Base Class: Barbarian
The former gladiator pushes the nearly ancient rubble aside, his frustration evident as he struggles to his feet. His once-golden armor is covered with thick layers of rust that have almost completely corroded it over the centuries he was put into a magical slumber. Once his eyes adjust to the sunlight for the first time in hundreds of years, his gaze scans the ruins around him, noting the almost entirely destroyed state of the place he once called his home.. and his prison. His shackles snap due to centuries of rust as he moves his hands, the popping noise of the wrist joints almost as loud as the rusted shackles hitting the sand-coated rocks. He is free to do as he pleases.. but he carries with him the weight of the agony that he believes the world will always need.
Level 3: Vow of Voyage: Give A Hundred, Take A Thousand
When you go into rage, you restore 2d6 of your Hit Points and gain 3 Shardscars. When you land an attack on an enemy, you can consume one Shardscar and take 2d6 damage to gain one of the following abilities for the rest of the round. You can only have one of these abilities at a time. If you consume a second Shardscar, the first ability you chose will be replaced by the second one you chose.
• Whenever you land a killing attack on an enemy, you can choose to, as a bonus action, harvest some of their blood and toss it onto your own body, increasing the damage of your next successful attack by 2d6. If this empowered attack is a killing attack, you can restore 1d6 of your Hit Points.
• Whenever you land an unarmed attack on an enemy, you can add 1d6 piercing damage to the damage roll.
• If you end your rage before the end of this round, you can restore 3d4 of your Hit Points.
Level 6: Vow of Vexation: Take Their Place in Death
When you drop below 20 Hit Points while in rage, you regain all consumed Shardscars. When you land an attack against an enemy who attacked you on its previous turn, you can choose to consume 2 Shardscars and heal yourself for an amount equal to the damage dealt to it. If you use this ability and kill the enemy, you regain 1 Shardscar.
Level 10: Vow of Vendetta: Cage The Broken Lance
Starting from level 10, your unarmed strikes are empowered by your Shardscars, each one you possess increasing your unarmed strike damage by 1d8 to a maximum of 5d8. Whenever you deal piercing damage by the effect of ‘Vow of Voyage: Give a Hundred, Take a Thousand’, you can choose to consume a Shardscar to heal 2d6 of your Hit Points.
Level 14: Bloodied Vow: Permanence is Mercy
Starting from level 14, if your Hit Points fall below 10, you can consume all currently held Shardscars and gain the following abilities until the end of your next turn, depending on how many Shardscars you consumed. You can only use this ability once per long rest.
•1: Your unarmed strikes deal damage equal to 2d10 plus your Strength modifier.
•2: If you deal a killing blow to an enemy that attacked you on their turn, you can restore Hit Points equal to half the damage they did to you with that attack.
•3: If you would fall unconscious, make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. If you succeed, you return to 1 Hit Point and do not leave Rage instead.
•4: If you would have your health restored by a spell, you regain 2 Shardscars.
•5: If you deal piercing damage by the effect of ‘Vow of Voyage: Give a Hundred, Take a Thousand’, once per day, you can add half of your Strength stat to that attack’s damage.
Level 3: Vow of Victory: Rebuke False Legacies
Starting from level 3, your unarmed strikes deal the same amount of damage as attacks you would make with a great axe.
Vow of Valediction: Bring Glorious Death
Starting from level 10, when you consume Shardscars, you add an extra 1d6 to your unarmed strikes’ damage rolls until the end of your next turn.
