Base Class: Warlock
Deep within the Astral sea, there are many places the light does not reach, and creatures who dwell there. You have made a pact with one such creature, known as a Void Patron. These creatures are unknowable but have the ability to create voids in those they touch. Perhaps your patron is a dead aboleth whose corpse floats within the astral sea, an Astral Dreadnaught who has ascended to the far realm or an ancient god sealed away, its will lingering in the void. Whoever they are, your patron draws power from those you sever, and they revel in you striking you enemies down.
Void Spells
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Void Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Absorb Elements, Astral Rain, Null Strike, Vortex Warp |
| 5 | Haste, Melf's Minute Meteors |
| 7 | Bladestorm, Summon Aberrations |
| 9 | Flame Strike, Steel Wind Strike |
Severed Bonds
Your connection to the void allows you to sever the bonds that connect people to the material plane. The removal of these bonds leaves a void behind the marks the spirits of those you harm. with each strike, an individual loses more of themselves until they become a mere shell of who they are.
Starting at 3rd level, when a creature takes damage from an attack or a spell you cast, that creature becomes Severed. Severed is a stacking condition that had no effect but is used for a number of your class features. A creature can only gain a stack of Severed from this feature once per turn and may have a maximum number of stacks of Severed equal to your proficiency bonus. Once a creature reaches the maximum number of Severs, they can not gain any more until the existing stacks are spent or lost. The Severed condition last for 1 minute, but that duration is reset each time a creature receives a new stack of Severed and if that duration ends, the creature looses all stacks of Severed.
Touched by the Void
At 3rd level, you learn to draw upon the void within others to create powerful effects. As a reaction, when a creature within 60ft gains the Severed condition, you may activate one of the following effects (targeting that creature):
- Purification: The target takes 1d4 fire damage.
- Isolation: The target must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell DC, on a failure, that creature is frightened until the end of its next turn.
- Attrition: You may teleport within 5ft of the target.
Umbral Ascendancy
As you sever your foes, you draw on the void left behind to amplify your own power.
As a bonus action, you may end the Severed condition on a single target within 30ft. You may then activate one of the following effects based on the number of Stacks of the Severed condition that creature had. You may choose an effect costing equal to or less Severs than the creature has, but the creature loses all stacks and the condition ends regardless.
- 2 Severs: You may teleport to a unoccupied location within 60 ft
- 3 Severs: You gain temporary hit points equal to your level in this class.
- 4 Severs: You regain one of your expended spell slots
- 5 Severs: You may regain the use of one of your Mystic Arcanum Spells.
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Growing Apathy
At 10th level, your growing attunement to the void causes you to radiate entropic power.
At the start of your turn, select up to one target creature within 15ft. That creature gains a stack of Severed.
Blade of the Elder Evil
Starting at 14th level, your mastery of the void allows it to suffuse every strike.
If you hit a Severed creature with a melee weapon attack, you deal an additional 1d6 damage.
Additionally as a bonus action, you may Sever a creature within 5ft. You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier. You regain all expended uses on a long rest.
