Monk
Base Class: Monk

At the temples of [REDACTED], a form of combat is taught to a very few number of students. Combat training is paired with spiritual teachings to achieve a form of battle not unlike the [REDACTED] of old. Warriors of the Vespers are taught to never reveal their teachings, as the use of these dangerous and powerful weapons is devastating in the wrong hands. They are taught a respect for the history of the order, as well as an understanding of what use of the weapon can be wrought.

Level 3: Vesper Mastery

You gain proficiency in a weapon known as a Vesper: A special martial melee weapon with the following properties:

  • Vesper: 1d6 Slashing Damage, Light, Reach (10 ft), Versatile (1d8), Special, Vex

You may use the mastery property of Vespers.

You also gain proficiency in Performance skill checks.

Level 3: Spellcasting

You have learned to cast spells.

Cantrips. You know two cantrips of your choice from the Cleric spell list. Whenever you gain a Monk level, you can replace one of these cantrips with another cantrip of your choice from the Cleric spell list.

When you reach Monk level 10, you learn another Cleric cantrip of your choice.

Spell Slots. The Warrior of the Vesper Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your level 1+ spells. You regain all expended slots when you finish a Long Rest.

Focus Recovery: You may spend Focus Points to recover one spell slot at a one to one ratio. Once you use this feature, you may not do so again until you finish a Long Rest.

Vesper's Reach

When you hit a creature with a Vesper on your turn, you can spend a Focus Point to impose one of the following effects on that target.

  • The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed or pulled 10 feet toward or away from you
  • You may push or pull yourself 10 feet toward or away from the target. This movement does not trigger Opportunity Attacks.
  • You may deal extra damage to the target. The extra damage is equal to your Martial Arts die.

Level 6: Vesper's Parry

If you’re holding a Vesper, and another creature hits you with a melee attack, you can spend a Focus Point and take a Reaction to add your Dexterity modifier to your Armor Class, potentially causing the attack to miss you. You gain this bonus to your AC against melee attacks until the start of your next turn.

Additionally, whenever you use your Redirect Attack class feature, you may also affect attacks that deal Fire, Cold, Lightning, Force, or Radiant damage.

Level 11: Vesper Materialization

On your turn, you may spend 3 focus points and take an action to activate your Vesper's hard light qualities. For the next minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • You may deal additional damage whenever you hit a target with a melee attack using a Vesper. This additional damage is equal to 2 rolls of your Martial Arts die.
  • You may ignore the Focus Point cost of your Vesper's Parry, and Vesper's Reach abilities
  • Whenever you deal damage with a melee attack using a Vesper, you may change the damage type to Cold, Fire, Force, Lightning, or Radiant damage.

Level 17: Divine Intervention

You can call on your deity or pantheon to intervene on your behalf. As a Magic action, choose any Cleric spell of level 5 or lower that doesn’t require a Reaction to cast. As part of the same action, you cast that spell without expending a spell slot or needing Material components. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a Long Rest.
