Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Rangers who follow the Path of the Pack Leader are natural leaders, commanding the loyalty and respect of those who follow them. These rangers possess an unshakable bond with their pack, both human and animal, enabling them to lead in combat and strategy with instinctive precision. The path grants the ability to shift between human, hybrid, and wolf forms, allowing the ranger to adapt their abilities to suit any situation. They gain enhanced senses, empower their pack members with resilience and strength, and can call upon the spirits of the wild to fight alongside them. Through their leadership, they embody the strength and unity of the pack, thriving in even the most dire of circumstances.

Alpha's Gift

At 3rd level, your presence radiates dominance and primal authority. You gain the following benefits:

Intimidation Mastery. You gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill. If you’re already proficient, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with it.

Favoured Instinct. When you use your Favoured Enemy feature, you have advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks made to discern the emotions or intent of creatures of that type.

Pack Telepathy. You can communicate telepathically with creatures designated as your pack members within 30 feet of you. You and the pack members need not share a language.

Shifting Form

3rd-level Pack Leader feature

As a bonus action, you can transform into a bestial form, choosing either your Hybrid Form or Wolf Form. You remain transformed for 1 hour, until you revert (no action required), or until you are incapacitated.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus + 1 (minimum of twice), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Hybrid Form

  • Your Strength score increases by 2, to a maximum of 20.

  • You gain a claw attack that deals 1d4 + your Strength modifier slashing damage. It counts as a natural weapon.

  • You gain proficiency with simple weapons while in this form.

Wolf Form

  • Your Dexterity score increases by 2, to a maximum of 20.

  • Your movement speed increases by 10 feet.

  • You gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Note: These bonuses apply only while you are transformed. They appear on your character sheet as temporary modifiers. When you revert to your normal form, they no longer apply.

Hunter's Instinct

Your instincts sharpen when separated from your pack. You gain the following benefits:

• You have advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track creatures.

• At the start of your turn, if no pack members are within 30 feet of you, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1).

Pack Scent

Your bond with those you call kin lets you sense and locate them across distance and terrain.

  • You create a link with willing creatures you have marked as your pack (a number of creatures equal to your Wisdom modifier, minimum 1).

  • While on the same plane, you always know the direction and approximate distance to any marked pack member within range.

  • You can detect pack members within 60 feet even if they are hidden (but not if they are behind total cover).

  • As long as a marked pack member is tied to you, you can follow their trail across terrain, even at a distance, so long as you remain on the same plane.

Pack Hunter

Your pack fights as a coordinated unit, instinctively protecting one another. You gain the following benefits:

  • You are immune to the frightened condition.

  • You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls against creatures within 5 feet of a friendly pack member (increases to +2 if that pack member is in an animal form).

  • Pack Defiance. When a pack member within 30 feet of you is targeted by an attack that misses, you can use your reaction to grant that pack member a +2 bonus to AC against that attack.

  • Pack Healing. When a pack member within 30 feet takes damage, you can use your reaction to reduce that damage by 1d6 + your ranger level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of two), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Alpha's Command

Your will becomes a tactical instrument: a single signal routes the pack’s actions. In dire moments, your primal resolve can also pull you back from the brink.

  • Pack Coordination (Bonus Action, Wolf Form only): While in your Wolf Form, you can use a bonus action to direct up to three friendly pack members within 30 feet. Each directed creature may use its reaction to either make one weapon or natural attack or move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once). You regain all expended uses after a long rest.

  • Primal Survival (Reaction): If you would be reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to immediately assume your Wolf Form (even if you have no remaining uses of your shape feature) and regain 1d10 + your ranger level hit points. Once you use this reaction, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.

Spirit of the Pack

Your spiritual bond manifests as protective energy among your pack.

  • While in Wolf Form, you and your pack members have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

  • At the start of your turn while in Wolf Form, you can choose one pack member (including yourself) within 60 feet. That creature gains temporary hit points equal to 1d8 + your ranger level.

Alpha's Legacy

Your transformation and bond reach their peak.

  • Permanent Transformation. You can remain in your Hybrid or Wolf Form indefinitely, until you choose to revert or are incapacitated.

  • Spectral Pack. As an action, you summon spectral wolves to fight beside you. You summon a number of spectral wolves equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of one). Each uses the wolf stat block (Monster Manual p. 382), deals force damage, and has hit points equal to twice your ranger level. The wolves vanish after 1 minute or when you are incapacitated. You can use this feature once per long rest.

  • Lone Wolf. When you are not within 30 feet of any pack member, you gain advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks and temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier at the start of your turn.
