Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

A wizard who specializes in creating tattoos, is one who creates great brilliant works of art on other’s bodies as well as their own.  They have the ability to infuse their art with magic, providing different effects for the tattoo's recipient.  A tattoo artist prides themselves in their art and the beauty of their work in addition to it's potential power.  In fact, the tattoos are so beautiful that viewing them with a Detect Magic spell allows an individual to view the art in an entirely different manner, allowing them to perceive the intricate lines and colors of arcane magic woven into the tattoo itself.

Tattooing magic is rare, but a highly sought after product. In fact, some practitioners have been enslaved, had family held for ransom, and subject to other methods of being forced to use their skills.  So practitioners must be exceptionally careful, almost to the point of being clandestine.  They still make a living off their mundane tattooing skills (hiding their arcane ability), but their magical tattoos are basically a black market commodity, if only to ensure the secrecy of its practitioners and their clients.

Tattoo Savant

When you select this school at 2nd level, your spell book can be tattooed onto your skin (symbols on your arm or hand move and reform as it "turns pages". Time and ink costs are normal

Improved Illusory Script - When you choose this school at 2nd level, you add the Illusory Script spell to your spell book if you don't already have it. You always have this spell prepared, and it doesn’t count as one of your prepared spells.  When you cast Illusory Script, you can create both colored pictures as well as text.

Artist - At 2nd level you gain proficiency in Calligrapher's supplies and Painter's supplies.  You can use either of these as an arcane focus.

Tattoo of Secrecy

Starting at 6th level, you learn the secret of a special tattoo called the Tattoo of Secrecy, that you can only apply to yourself. Only Arcane Tattooists have the ability or knowledge to wear this tattoo. The Tattoo of Secrecy allows you to put items into a tattoo and hide them there until you retrieve them. The tattoo must be attuned to, and comes in Uncommon, Rare, and Very Rare rarities.  When the tattoo is initially placed, it can take whatever design you decide to place upon yourself.

At 6th level, you can apply the Uncommon version to your skin, Rare at level 10, and Very Rare at level 14.  When you update the tattoo, you must spend an hour updating and expanding the tattoo (can be done during a short or long rest), at which time the tattoo takes on the abilities of its new form.

As an action, you can press an object against your skin where the Tattoo of Secrecy is located.  That object disappears, and then an image of it appears as part of the tattoo.  The image(s) on the tattoo can be arranged however you choose, at will.  You can use another action to remove an object from the tattoo by again touching the same point on the skin. A stored object can be no larger than where the largest side of the object can be completely pressed against the skin.  You can store multiple objects this way, but they cannot collectively weigh more than an amount based on the tattoo's rarity. All items placed within the tattoo become inert and will not function until removed.

You can also store magic items within the tattoo, but the tattoo must have a higher rarity than the magic item to be placed into the tattoo.  Currently attuned items or intelligent items cannot be stored within the tattoo.

If you are incapacitated, a creature who knows an object is stored there, can attempt to remove one item with an Intelligence check against your spell save DC.  On a success, they can remove one item.  On a failure, they cannot remove any items for 24 hours.  If you die, all objects stored in the tattoo appear in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of your body.

Objects within the tattoo, incur no weight encumbrance to the wearer. However, the tattoo has limits on the actual total weight of the objects placed within. Trying to exceed the weight limit, simply results in the item not being able to be incorporated into the tattoo.

Uncommon - 5 pound weight limit

Rare - 10 pound weight limit

Very Rare - 15 pound weight limit
