Base Class: Sorcerer
You draw your powers from the blessing of the bird of eternal life, the majestic Phoenix. Though you do not share a direct bloodline with a phoenix, there are other ways to gain their blessing. the most common is that you, or one of your ancestors, befriended a phoenix. However, there are several ways, such as having raised a phoenix from a chick, or having saved a next of phoenix eggs from a predator.
Level 3: Blessing of the Phoenix
When you take this subclass at third level the blessing of the Phoenix grants you the ability to read, write, and speak Ignan, the language of all living flame, as well as it strengthens your body to accepting the living flame, granting you Resistance to Fire damage.
It is at this level that you choose which subspecies of Phoenix has blessed you.
- Traditional Phoenix
- Blue Phoenix
- Aurora Phoenix
- Phoenix of the Silver Flame (Eberron Exclusive)
Aurora Phoenix
Born of the auroras that wreath both sides of the planet, these phoenixes are unique in both temperament and ability. These phoenixes origin place are known, unlike those born of other natural flame. And they are known to enjoy playing with and healing other creatures, as opposed to the semi-solitary nature of other wild phoenixes.
Blue Phoenix
Mich like a traditional phoenix, this creature is also made of flames and no one knows where the first one came from. However, unlike a traditional phoenix it's flames burn much hotter, however it dies more quickly. It is twice as hot, and lives half as long. Also curiously it has been known to be able to suck all the heat from any given area, making it unnaturally cold.
Phoenix of the Silver Flame
Unlike other phoenixes, these phoenixes are solely created by people's hands. The first of its kind was created by a ranger, a believer on the Church of the Silver Flame, who was bid by the Voice to lay a phoenix egg within the Silver Flames manifestation within the Flamekeep. This origin makes these by far and above the most rare of phoenixes, and beloved by believers in the Silver Flame.
Traditional Phoenix
This is the quintessential phoenix one thinks of. A being of pure fire. While no one truly knows where the first one came from, all beings know of them as a symbol of life and rebirth.
Level 6: Form of the Phoenix
At 6th level your blessing has granted you the ability to temporarily drape yourself in flames as an Action, taking on a phoenix like form. While using this ability you gain the abilities listed below.
This ability lasts 1 minute. You can use this ability once per long rest, or you can expend 3 Sorcery Points to recharge it.
Phoenix Wings
You gain a fly speed equal to your walk speed as wings made of flame appear on your back.
Strength of the Flames
Whenever you cast spells that deal fire damage you can add your charisma modifier to the damage roll, once per spell.
Activate Form of the Phoenix
You have activated Form of the Phoenix.
Multicolored Flames
You have reached 14th level. By this point the blessing you were gifted has melded completely with your magic, granting you more abilities when you use the Form of the Phoenix class feature, some abilities which are dependant on which Phoenix has blessed you.
Protection of Flames
You gain Immunity to Fire damage and Resistance to Cold damage while transformed.
Traditional Phoenix: Absorbing Flames
While transformed if you are subjected to fire damage you are able to heal up to half of the amount that would have been dealt to you should you have not had immunity/resistance. This includes fire damage you deal to yourself.
Blue Phoenix: Searing Flames
Any fire damage dealt by spells you cast ignores resistance, and treats immunity as resistance while transformed (this includes your own immunity/resistance). By expending sorcery points equal to the spells level you can cause a spell that deals fire damage and was cast by you to do twice the damage.
Aurora Phoenix: Healing Flames
If a spell you cast would deal damage to a friendly creature, or friendly creatures, you can make it deal no damage. By expending sorcery points equal to the spells level you can transform the flames to healing flames and heal them for half the damage they would have received instead.
Phoenix of the Silver Flames
You can transform your fire damage to radiant damage. Radiant damage dealt this way to Fiends or Abberations forces the Fiend or Abberation to make a con save vs your spell save DC or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The creature may make a save at the end of its turn. If the creature succeeds it is immune to this ability until the next dawn. This affects only one creature per spell. You can increase the number of affected targets by expending one extra sorcerer point per creature targeted.
Level 18: Flames of Rebirth
At 18th level the Phoenixs' blessing has permeated completely gifting you a strong life force, granting you the Flames of Rebirth.
Flames of Rebirth
Once per long rest when you drop to 0 hit points you can choose to regain half your max hit points. Doing so extinguishes all nearby (120 foot radius) flames, both magical and nonmagical. However, this ability does not require flame to be nearby to activate.
