The Other

Your patron has come to you in dreams your entire life. Many of these dreams are troubling and ominous, while others are prophetic and insightful. Only very recently has your patron stepped forward in these visions and made themselves known to you: your patron is yourself (or the posterity of your bloodline). Presumably from the future - an alternate dimension or perhaps this very same reality - they have attained enough power in their present to be capable of sending you magical gifts backward through time.

These gifts manifest as raw, pure arcane power, not filtered through elemental, shadow or divine magics and other similar dampers on your latent ability - your power is force magic. Force magic is centered on harnessing and manipulating the innate, omnipresent magical force of the multiverse in various ways - such as creating shielding and protections, altering the flow of time, teleportation, devastating blasts, and making destructive forms of this arcane energy.

While that much is clear, your patron's motives and actions are not. Their intentions could potentially be genial, wishing to ensure that you thrive enough to secure their reality. Or, perhaps they have more sinister machinations and unresolved business in the past that they desire to change, using you as the catalyst. One thing is for certain though - someone from the future is looking out for you.

Expanded Spell List

The Other lets you choose from an expanded thematic list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. Your spells are arcane and force-based in nature, regardless of the spell description. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Visions Of The Future

Starting at 1st level, you receive brief glimpses of the future, a side effect of communicating with your patron in dreams. When you finish a long rest, roll two d20s and record the numbers rolled. You can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature you can see with one of these foretelling rolls. You must choose to do so before the roll, and you can replace a roll this way only once per turn. 

Each foretelling roll can be used only once. When you finish a long rest, you lose any unused foretelling rolls and roll two new foretelling rolls.

Limits Of The Arcane

Starting at 1st level, you learn the sword burst cantrip, which counts as a warlock cantrip for you. 

Your patron's tentative and strained bond to you your entire life, coupled with their preference for pure arcane force, limits your own scope of spellcasting and advancement. You cannot multiclass into or out of this subclass, and you can only learn and cast spells that deal damage (or have damage types associated with the spell) if the damage type is Force. Spells that do not deal damage are not affected by this restriction.

At 11th level, you may choose the contingency, disintegrate or globe of invulnerability spell as your Mystic Arcanum.

At 13th level, you may choose the forcecage, mordenkainen's magnificent mansion or teleport spell as your Mystic Arcanum.

At 15th level, you may choose the antimagic field, maze or telepathy spell as your Mystic Arcanum.

At 17th level, you may choose the blade of disaster, foresight or time stop spell as your Mystic Arcanum.

Tempered Power

Starting at 6th level, your patron allows you to directly tap into their vast sum of arcane power through your bond whenever you choose. Spells you cast ignore resistance to Force damage, and you gain resistance to Force damage.

In addition, your spell attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20. This feature also applies to each attack roll for spells such as spiritual weapon.

Absolute Power

Starting at 10th level, your patron bestows an immense amount of their own personal arcane power upon you, directly tethering their fate to your own. When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for a spell you cast that deals Force damage, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or 2, and you add your proficiency bonus to each damage roll of that spell. These features also apply to each damage roll for spells such as spiritual weapon, teleport or blade of disaster.

In addition, when you expend a foretelling roll via your Visions Of The Future feature, the next spell you cast with a spell slot or a Mystic Arcanum spell within the same round counts as if being cast with a spell slot of one level higher (if applicable). This benefit can also apply to a spell immediately followed by the expended foretelling roll (for example, replacing the roll of an ability check with counterspell, a saving throw with disintegrate or the first melee spell attack with spiritual weapon to improve the original spell cast).

Imminent Clarity

Starting at 14th level, your patron has begun to solidify and stabilize your arcane bond to their reality, further improving your perception of future events and beckoning you ever closer toward who you are meant to become. You roll three d20s for your Visions Of The Future feature, rather than two.

In addition, when you cast a Mystic Arcanum spell that deals Force damage, you add your Charisma modifier to each damage roll of that spell. This feature also applies to each damage roll for spells such as teleport and blade of disaster.
