Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians who follow the Path of the Viking channel the primal forces of ice and frost as they enter a battle frenzy. Like the ancient warriors of frozen lands, these Barbarians gain the power of the elements—frost and cold—as they rage. Their wrath is like an avalanche, unstoppable and unforgiving.
Frostbite Fury
When you enter your rage, the cold winds of the north swirl around you. For the duration of your rage, you can use your bonus action to unleash a burst of icy energy, causing one of the following effects:
-
Frozen Strike: The first time you hit a creature with a melee attack on your turn, you can deal an additional 1d6 cold damage.
-
Chill of the North: Any creature within 5 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus). On a failed save, the creature takes cold damage equal to your Barbarian level and has its speed reduced by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
Glacial Resilience
Your body hardens like the glaciers of the north, giving you resistance to cold damage. Additionally, while raging, your walking speed cannot be reduced (like being hit with Ray of Frost) and you have advantage on saving throws against being paralyzed. (like being hit with Hold Person)
Howl of the Winter Storm
When you enter your rage, you can choose to release a battle cry infused with the chilling power of winter. As part of your bonus action on the turn you enter rage, all creatures within 15 feet of you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus) or be frightened until the end of your next turn.
Additionally, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points while raging, you can force all creatures within 10 feet of you to make a Constitution saving throw (DC as above) or take cold damage equal to your Barbarian level. This damage goes through resistances and immunities.
Avatar of the Frozen North
At 14th level, you can embody the fury of an ice storm with your rage. When you enter your rage, icy winds swirl around you, forming a protective barrier. You gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Barbarian level. These hit points last for the duration of your rage. When a creature hits you while you have these temporary hit points, you can use your reaction to deal cold damage to them equal to your barbarian level.
Additionally, your melee attacks during your rage deal an extra 2d6 cold damage.
