Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Wield the Might of the Elements

Elementalists are renowned for their theoretical expertise in, and specialist application of, a specific prime element. As an Elementalist, you strive to further learn about the elemental forces suffusing the multiverse, and to continue to develop your skills in elemental manipulation. Some Elementalists are drawn towards unlocking the secrets of the elemental planes, where others focus their attention on the primordial anomalies on the prime material.

Level 3: Specialist Element

Choose a specialist element: Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison, or Thunder. Your specialist element is used by features you gain as you gain levels in this subclass.

Acid Specialist

Your specialist element is Acid.

Cold Specialist

Your specialist element is Cold.

Fire Specialist

Your specialist element is Fire.

Lightning Specialist

Your specialist element is Lightning.

Poison Specialist

Your specialist element is Poison.

Thunder Specialist

Your specialist element is Thunder.

Level 3: Elemental Savant

Choose two Wizard spells which deal elemental damage, each of which must be no higher than level 2, and add them to your spellbook for free. Whenever you gain access to a new level of spell slots in this class, you can add one Wizard spell which deals elemental damage to your spellbook for free. The chosen spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Level 3: Transmute Energy

Whenever you deal damage with a Cantrip or Level 1+ Spell which deals Acid, Cold, Lightning, Poison or Thunder damage, you can change that damage type to the damage type of your specialist element.

You also know the Elementalism cantrip. If you already know it, you learn a different Wizard cantrip of your choice. The cantrip doesn’t count against your number of cantrips known. You can cast Elementalism without Verbal or Somatic components, and you can cast it as a Bonus Action.

Level 6: Arcane Assimilation

You have Resistance to the damage type associated with your specialist element.

In addition, when you would make a saving throw against a spell or magical effect which deals the damage type of your specialist element, you can choose to make an Intelligence saving throw instead. If you would take half damage on a success, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw.

Acid Resistance

You have resistance to Acid damage.

Cold Resistance

You have resistance to Cold damage.

Fire Resistance

You have resistance to Fire damage.

Lightning Resistance

You have resistance to Lightning damage.

Poison Resistance

You have resistance to Poison damage.

Thunder Resistance

You have resistance to Thunder damage.

Level 6: Grazing Cantrips

If you make attack roll with a Wizard cantrip which deals the damage type of your specialist element, and the attack misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to your Wizard spellcasting ability modifier. This damage is the same type as your specialist element.

Level 10: Primordial Aid

You always have the Summon Elemental spell prepared. You can choose its' element to be Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Poison or Cold when you cast it. Whenever you cast Summon Elemental, you can modify the spell so that it can restrain up to two creatures at a time, instead of one. If you do so, the spell’s duration becomes 1 minute for that casting.

You can cast the modified version once without expending a spell slot, and you must finish a Long Rest before you can do so again.

Level 14: Elemental Confluence

Whenever one of your Wizard spells would deal the damage type of your specialist element, the damage is considered to be both its' usual damage type, and the associated confluence damage type in the Elemental Confluence Table. When a creature takes this damage, you can choose to apply the damage type to which the creature(s) have the least resistance, using immunity, resistance, and vulnerability rules as normal. If the creature is affected equally by both damage types, you choose which applies.
