Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Barbarians who follow the Path of the First walk the same blood-soaked road as Khazan—the betrayed general who embraced wrath beyond death. These warriors are not merely angry; they are consumed by vengeance, drawing strength from pain, loss, and the spirits that cling to their rage. Each wound fuels retaliation, and every fallen foe sharpens their hunger for retribution.

Wrathbound Retribution

While your Rage is active, gain the following benefits:

  • The first time each turn a creature damages you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against that creature.

  • If this reaction attack hits, it deals extra damage equal to your Rage Damage bonus.

Additionally, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + your Barbarian level (minimum of 1). You can gain these temporary hit points only once per turn.

Vengeful Endurance

While your Rage is active, you gain the following benefits:

  • When you are reduced to half your hit points or fewer, you gain advantage on all Strength-based attack rolls.

  • Once per rage, when you would be reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can instead drop to 1 hit point and immediately make one melee weapon attack as part of the same reaction.

    • If this attack hits, you regain hit points equal to your Barbarian level.

You can use this feature once per rage.

Spectral Onslaught

While raging, when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you may mark it with Spectral Wrath until the start of your next turn:

  • The marked creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures other than you.

  • The first time the marked creature hits you before the mark ends, it takes force or necrotic damage (your choice) equal to 2d8 + your Constitution modifier.

You can mark only one creature at a time, and the effect ends early if you mark another creature.

Avatar of Ruin

When you enter a rage, you can choose to become an Avatar of Ruin. The transformation lasts for the duration of the rage and grants the following benefits:

  • You gain resistance to all damage except psychic (this replaces your normal rage resistances).

  • Whenever you take damage from a creature within 5 feet of you, that creature takes necrotic damage equal to your Rage Damage bonus.

  • Your melee weapon attacks deal an additional 1d10 necrotic damage.

  • If you reduce a creature to 0 hit points during this rage, you can immediately move up to half your speed and make one melee weapon attack (no action required). You can do this once per turn.

Once you use Avatar of Ruin, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
