Base Class: Ranger
A road is the promise of something new, and the multitudinous asphalt highways that stretch across this dying world are no exception. Last Vega's Rangers drive hundreds of miles a day in horseless carriages, and every mile is more of the same. Perhaps they still believe in the promises of roads, or perhaps they simply have nothing better to do than drive into endless sunsets.
Highway Nomads are Rangers that have formed a supernatural bond with their land vehicles, granting them enhanced speed, endurance, and recklessness.
Level 3: Fast Thinking
You're quick on your feet and behind the wheel, granting you the following benefits.
Hood Slide. Entering, exiting, or jumping over a vehicle does not cost you extra movement.
Initiative Bonus. When you roll Initiative, you can add your Wisdom modifier to the roll.
Skid Mark. During the first round of each combat, you may cast Hunter's Mark and Dash as a Bonus Action.
Tailwind. Once on each of your turns when you are targeted by an Opportunity Attack, your Speed increases by 10 feet until the end of that turn.
Level 3: Highway Trance
You gain proficiency and Expertise with every land vehicle. You don't need to sleep, and magic can't put you to sleep. You can finish a Long Rest in 4 hours if you do nothing but drive and talk during that time.
You always have the Go Cart spell prepared, and it only takes you 1 minute to cast it as a Ritual.
Level 3: Road Warrior
Whenever you use Highway Trance to finish a Long Rest while driving a vehicle for 4 hours, you may gain the following benefits for 20 hours.
Activate Road Warrior
Accelerated. You gain a +2 bonus to your AC, but only against Opportunity Attacks.
Drive By. When you are the target of an Opportunity Attack, you may take a Reaction to make one weapon attack against any target within that weapon's range.
Level 7: Getaway Driver
As a Magic action, you can Dash and touch up to four Medium or smaller allies. At the end of your turn, you and those allies may teleport up to 1 mile into the seats of a land vehicle that you have created using the Go Cart spell. You may not use this action again until you have completed a Long Rest.
If the creature you've targeted with Hunter's Mark has dropped to 0 Hit Points and the spell hasn't ended yet, then you may take a Bonus Action to Dash and move the mark to a new creature that you can see within range.
Level 11: Fast and Furious
You can cast the Haste spell once without a spell slot, but you cannot do so again until you finish a Long Rest. You always have that spell prepared, and you can use your own level 3+ spell slots to cast it. Haste counts as a Ranger spell for you.
Whenever you start casting Haste, you can modify the spell so that it doesn't require Concentration. If you do so, the spell ends after the targeted creature has finished a number of turns equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1 turn).
Level 15: Riding Shotgun
When you cast a spell targeting yourself while piloting a vehicle, you can also affect one of your passengers with that spell if they are within 10 feet of you.
