Base Class: Barbarian
Barbarians who walk this path are marked by a cruel blessing—an impossible resilience that blurs the line between ecstasy and agony. Their bodies shrug off harm, their nerves sing with exhilaration, & battle becomes the only time they feel truly alive. This gift, or curse, often manifests through ancient runes, blood rites, or divine meddling.
Cursed Body
Resistant Flesh.
While raging, you gain resistance to all damage except psychic.
Frenzied Sensation.
Whenever you take damage while raging, your senses sharpen. Until the end of your next turn, you gain one of the following (your choice each time):
-
Adrenal Burst. Your movement increases by 10 feet.
-
Bloodrush. You have advantage on the next attack roll you make.
-
Reckless Resilience. You gain temporary hit points equal to half your Barbarian level.
You can benefit from this feature multiple times per round, but each effect can only be active once at a time.
Ecstatic Recovery
While raging, when you take damage from a creature within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier + half your Barbarian level.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1), & regain all uses after a long rest.
Unbreakable Momentum
Your curse turns every strike against you into fuel for unstoppable fury.
While raging, whenever a creature hits you with an attack:
-
You gain 1 Momentum point (maximum 5).
-
When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you may expend any number of Momentum points. For each point spent, you deal an extra 1d6 force damage.
If you take no damage for 1 full round, your Momentum resets to 0.
Momentum Overflow:
If you ever reach 5 Momentum points, you immediately unleash a violent surge.
Each creature of your choice within 10 feet takes 5d6 force damage, and your Momentum resets to 0.
Cursed Vitality
Your body grows unnaturally durable & self-correcting.
Unyielding Physique.
You gain immunity to one damage type of your choice from the following:
cold, fire, lightning, necrotic, radiant, or poison.
You may change this choice whenever you finish a long rest.
Deny Weakness.
While raging, you are immune to exhaustion, & effects can’t reduce your maximum hit points.
Runic Immunity
Ancient runes flare across your skin, granting bursts of impossible resistance.
When you start your rage, choose one damage type: acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, radiant, or thunder.
You gain immunity to that damage type for the duration of the rage. Additionally, all melee attacks you make are now imbued with the chosen damage type for the duration of the rage.
This immunity stacks with your “Cursed Body” resistances.
Additionally, when you take damage of your chosen type from a magical effect (even if you’re immune), you may use your reaction to emit a blast of crackling runes. Each creature within 10 feet must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + Constitution modifier) or take 2d8 damage of that type.
The Gift of Painlessness
Pain-Eater
While raging, when a creature damages you with an attack, you can choose to unleash a burst of ecstatic force. It takes force damage equal to the damage you took, after resistance.
You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier per rage.
Unending Frenzy
When you are reduced to 0 hit points while raging & use your Curse of Invigoration feature, you can immediately make one melee attack against every creature within reach.
Curse of the Deathless
Your cursed vitality becomes fully unmoored from mortality.
You gain the following benefits:
Undying Fury
When you drop to 0 hit points while raging, you do not fall unconscious.
You can continue taking actions, bonus actions, & reactions normally.
You must still make death saving throws as usual on your turns.
If you end your rage while at 0 hit points, you fall unconscious.
Living Agony
Whenever you fail a death saving throw while raging, you erupt with violent, ecstatic energy. Each creature within 10 feet takes 2d10 necrotic or radiant damage (your choice). This damage increases to 3d10 if the failed death save was a natural 1.
Defy Death’s Grasp
If you succeed on 3 death saving throws while still raging, you immediately heal hit points equal to half your Barbarian level + your Constitution modifier, & your rage does not end, restarting your rage's duration.
