Preparing Meals

At the end of a long rest, you may prepare a number of Meals equal to:

Wisdom modifier + proficiency bonus

Each meal is single-use and counts as a nonmagical item.

Meals require:

  • 1 abstract Base Ingredient (1 gp worth of supplies or equivalent foraging)

  • Optional Special Ingredients (monster parts, rare herbs)

Level 3: Field Dressing

When you help slay a creature of Small size or larger, you may spend 10 minutes harvesting it.

You gain Special Ingredients based on CR:

  • CR 0–2: 1 ingredient

  • CR 3–8: 2 ingredients

  • CR 9+: 3 ingredients

Ingredient Types (Examples)

  • Protein: enhances healing

  • Catalyst: grants conditions or resistances

  • Essence: creature-type bonuses (fiends, undead, dragons, etc.)

Ingredients spoil after 3 days unless preserved (salt, smoke, alchemy, etc.).

Level 7: Trail Medicine

Your healing becomes combat-viable.

  • When you use your bonus action to eat or administer a Trail Ration, you may:

    • Also allow one creature within 5 ft to regain 1d8 + Wisdom modifier HP

  • You regain 1 Culinary Die on a short rest

Additionally:

  • Opportunity attacks do not trigger against you when you move to administer food

Level 11: Adaptive Cuisine

Your experience with monsters now directly enhances healing.

When a creature consumes one of your meals, you may choose one:

  • Gain resistance to one damage type dealt by a creature you have harvested

  • Gain advantage on the next saving throw made this minute

  • Increase the healing by one additional Culinary Die (once per turn)

You may also:

  • Replace one prepared meal during a short rest

Level 15: Apex Feast

Once per long rest, if you have harvested a creature of CR 8 or higher, you may prepare a powerful feast (10 minutes).

Up to 6 creatures who eat the feast gain:

  • Hit points equal to:

2 Culinary Dice + Wisdom modifier

  • Temporary HP equal to your ranger level

  • Advantage on saving throws for 1 hour

  • Immunity to exhaustion for the duration
