Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Devil have found power in what most consider a curse. They, through blindness, willing or unwilling, learned to master their other 4 senses. Through this they unlock a new way of experiencing the world, one that allows them to know things others may not, like the acceleration of one's heartbeat when they lie, the sound of a stabbing blocks away, or the scent of rotting flesh, neatly tucked away in a man's basement. Monks of the Way of the Devil often rigorously and violently dedicate themselves to a singular path in life, viewing their sight as a distraction from this path. Those who witness their ferocity in their commitment to their goals often say it is as if they are unleashing a dormant devil within them.
Radar Sense
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level you lose your sight if you were not already blind, whether intentionally or otherwise, permanently gaining the blinded condition. If you have your sight restored or are using magic to see, such as the spell arcane eye you lose all the benefits granted to you by this subclass. This blindness also gifts you with heightened perception, allowing you to know things others do not. This grants you the following benefits:
- Blindsight out to 15 feet, increasing to 30 at 6th level, 60 at 11th level, and 120 at 17th level.
- Advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks relying on your choice of one between sound, scent and taste, or touch. You can choose a second at 6th level, and get all three at 11th.
- Expertise in Wisdom (Perception) checks and +5 to your passive perception.
You cannot check if a creature that can disguise itself as an inanimate object is not that object unless they are within half your blindsight range. You also cannot detect something that makes no sound, emits no scent, is weightless, and does not change the air around you, such as the cloud of mist generated by a vampire's shapechanger trait. You also cannot read things unless they are carved into a solid material or written in a special language, for example you cannot read a letter written in ink on paper, but you can read a wooden sign pointing to a town as long as the letters are carved in and not written on top of the wood.
World On Fire
At 6th level, after more experience with your blind senses, you gain advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks against humanoids as well as Wisdom (Survival) checks to find a creature that you could detect and was in your blindsight range in the last 24 hours. You can also now use an action to expend ki points to use one of the following features:
- Tighter Focus: Expend one ki point to reroll a Wisdom (Perception), Wisdom (Survival), or Wisdom (Insight) check after you roll but before the DM tells you the result.
- Wider Focus: Expend any number of ki points to increase your blindsight range by your unarmored movement bonus times the amount of ki points you expended for one round.
These features can also be used as a bonus action at 17th level.
Without Fear
At 11th level, you have gained a deeper view of the what the world is like without sight, being able to freely move and act after truly letting go. You can no longer be surprised and can use your patient defense feature without expending any ki points. You can do this a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier. You can also expend a ki point to make any damage you cause non-lethal, regardless of whether it would kill someone outright.
Let The Devil Out
At 17th level you reach the apex of your senses, being able to focus your mind to enter a state of complete oneness with them, often referred to by monks of the Way of the Devil as "letting the devil out." As a bonus action, you can enter this state, gaining the following benefits for one minute.
- You can use your step of the wind feature to disengage without expending any ki points.
- You expend a ki point to take the dodge action as a reaction in response to being attacked or forced to make a dexterity saving throw.
- Your unarmored defense adds your Wisdom modifier to your armor class twice.
- You have advantage to attack any creature not actively hiding from you.
- You can take two reactions instead of one each round.
You can enter this state once per long rest, after which you must expend 4 ki points to enter it again.
Notes: Had to nerf the blindsight because I wanted to make it scale with monks movement bonus but dnd beyond is such a wonderfully helpful and intuitive website that it decided you would never need to change something between the usual subclass feature levels but still gave you an option to put features there that do not align with subclass feature levels.
