Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Rain do not command the fury of storms, they embody the comfort found beneath them. Their magic echoes the steady rhythm of rain against rooftops and cedar boughs, the quiet hush of grey skies, and the warmth of a shared hearth while the world grows still outside.

To these bards, rain is not destruction. It is patience. It is reflection. It is the permission to rest.

Their songs carry the soft cadence of falling droplets, wrapping companions in subtle magic that soothes frayed nerves, steadies shaking hands, and reminds the weary that even the longest storm eventually passes.

The College of Rain began in Everfall, the smallest of Aberdel’s three cities, a place of mist-veiled docks, evergreen hills, and lanternlight glowing through rain-streaked windows. There, where rain is less an event and more a constant companion, a circle of bards learned to listen to its rhythm rather than resist it. They gather in teahouses, timber halls, and covered verandas overlooking the harbor, sharing quiet melodies as storms roll in from the coast.

In Everfall, the rain is not endured. It is welcomed. And those who learn its song carry that welcome with them wherever they travel.

Song of The Rain

Your magic carries the steady rhythm of rainfall, wrapping your allies in quiet comfort.

When you grant a creature Bardic Inspiration, a gentle rainfall surrounds them for 1 minute. While this effect lasts:

  • The creature gains temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

  • If the creature is frightened or charmed, they may immediately reroll the saving throw against that effect.

Additionally, you learn the Create or Destroy Water spell. It does not count against your number of bard spells known. You may cast it without expending a spell slot a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

When you cast Create Water, the rainfall you summon is warm and steady, lightly obscuring the area in a 5-foot radius around you until the start of your next turn.

Resonance of the Rain

As an action, you create a 15-foot-radius aura of steady rainfall centered on yourself. The aura moves with you and lasts for 1 minute. You can use this feature once per long rest.

While within the aura:

  • Allies have advantage on their first attack each turn against a creature also within the aura.

  • The ground within the aura is considered difficult terrain for hostile creatures.

Petrichor Requiem

Once per long rest, as an action, you begin a solemn melody that summons a steady rainfall in a 30-foot radius centered on you for 1 minute.

While the rain falls:

  • Allies in the area gain resistance to psychic and necrotic damage.

  • When an ally in the rain would be reduced to 0 hit points, they instead drop to 1 hit point (once per creature).

  • At the end of each of your turns, one creature of your choice in the rain regains hit points equal to your Charisma modifier.
