Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

Blood magic sorcerer's derive their power from life its self. The power of their spells is often increased or even rooted in their own life force or that of another. Generally the most expedient way to access this life force is through blood. Blood magic sorcerers will use their own blood or that of their enemies to tap into the life force need for the spell craft.

Tools of the art

When you with a melee weapon that deals slashing or piercing damage, with which you are proficient, you can use your Intelligence modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls.

In addition, when you use a melee weapon to deal piercing or slashing damage to a creature that had blood, you may use that weapon as a focus for your sorcerer spells for the next ten minutes.

Vital Essence

Starting at 1st level, when a creature with blood, that is within 5 ft of you, takes piercing or slashing damage you may use your reaction to regain hit points equal to your charisma modifier.

Mystic Masochism

At 6th level, you have learned to tap into your own life force to power your spells. As a bonus action on your turn you may gain up to a number of sorcery points equal to half your sorcerer level rounded up. When you do roll a number of d6s equal to the number of sorcery points you gained. You take slashing damage equal to the total rolled and your maximum hp is reduced by the amount of damage you received from this ability. If this damage reduces you to 0 hp you may finish your turn before going unconscious. If this ability would reduce your maximum hp to 0 then you die at the end of the turn instead of losing consciousness.

You may only use this ability once per long rest. Your maximum hp resets at the end of your next long rest.

Grizzly Casting

Starting at 14th level,  you may use your own life force to increase the damage output of spells you cast. Whenever you roll damage for a spell you may add 1d12 slashing damage to the spell's damage if you do you also take that much slashing damage.

Chaos and Carnage

At 18th level, you learn to harness the life force of a departing soul to create extreme havoc.

When a creature with blood that you can see within 30 ft of you dies you can use your reaction cast two of the following spells without expending spell slots. They count as sorcerer spells for this casting even if they don't appear on the sorcerer spell list. These spells do not require concentration when cast this way and will last no more than 1 minute.

  • Cast healing spirit. The spirit appears in the space the creature died and has that creature's appearance. It cannot move from that space.
  • Cast flaming sphere centered on the creature that died. The sphere cannot move from that space.
  • Cast suggestion targeting one creature you can see within 30 ft of the creature that died.
  • Cast darkness centered on the creature that died.
  • Cast phantasmal force targeting a creature you can see within 30 ft of the creature that died.

You may use this feature once per short rest.
