Base Class: Fighter
Steel Sages take on many different forms, but one thing among them remains the same:
To walk the path of the Steel Sage is to dedicate yourself completely to improvement. Your weapon is not merely equipment—it is a masterpiece shaped by discipline, patience, and relentless effort. Many Steel Sages are driven by a burning ambition that borders on obsession. Some seek to prove themselves against the greatest warriors of the age, while others pursue mastery to see how far skill and determination can be pushed.
The most relentless among them even believe that with enough discipline, enough study, and enough strength of will, even the gods themselves could fall before a perfectly executed strike.
Level 3: Masterpiece
At 3rd level, you learn to create a weapon that embodies your martial philosophy.
During a long rest, choose one weapon you are proficient with to become your Masterpiece Weapon. Once chosen, the weapon becomes spiritually bound to you.
- The weapon disappears at the end of the rest and no longer counts against your carrying capacity, though it still counts as part of your inventory.
- As a bonus action, you can conjure the weapon into your hand.
- The weapon remains conjured for 1 minute, after which it disappears again
-
You can conjure your Masterpiece Weapon twice, and you regain all uses after a long rest.
While conjured, your Masterpiece Weapon gains the following benefits:
- You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with the weapon.
-
The weapon gains one blessing of your choice from the Smith’s Blessings table.
Smith’s Blessings

You can apply these blessings to your Masterpiece Weapon when it is conjured. Each blessing has a minimum fighter level and may have additional weapon requirements.

Level 3: Scholar of the Forge
Also at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with smith’s tools.
In addition, when crafting a nonmagical weapon you are proficient with, you can do so at half the normal cost.
Level 7: Wound Analysis
Beginning at 7th level, you can analyze injuries even in the midst of battle.
When you use your Second Wind, you gain resistance to the damage type that most recently damaged you until the end of your next turn.
Level 10: Call to Arms
At 10th level, your mastery of the blade allows you to briefly extend the power of your craft to others
When you conjure your Masterpiece Weapon, you may choose one ally you can see within 30 feet who is wielding a weapon. If that weapon meets the requirements of the Smith’s Blessing currently applied to your Masterpiece Weapon, you may grant that weapon the same blessing.
The blessing lasts until the end of your ally’s second turn after it is granted.
Level 15: Perfect Draw
At 15th level, the moment you summon your Masterpiece Weapon becomes an opportunity for a devastating opening technique.
When you conjure your Masterpiece Weapon, your first attack gains an additional effect depending on the weapon’s damage type.
Slashing — Vacum Sever
After hitting a creature with the attack, the slash continues in a 30-foot line behind the target. Each creature in that line must make a Dexterity saving throw
(DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier).
On a failed save, a creature takes weapon damage equal to your weapon’s damage die, and half as much on a success.
Piercing (mele) — Lunging Thrust
You may move up to 10 feet in a straight line toward the target immediately before attacking without provoking opportunity attacks.
This attack ignores resistance to the weapon’s damage type.
Bludgeoning — Shattering Impact
When you hit with this attack, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw
(DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier) or be knocked prone.
Piercing (ranged) — Quick Shot
When you conjure your Masterpiece Weapon, you may immediately make one ranged weapon attack with it as part of the same bonus action.
Level 18: Supreme Masterpiece
At 18th level, your mastery of the blade reaches its peak.
When you conjure your Masterpiece Weapon, it gains two Smith’s Blessings of your choice instead of one.
You cannot apply the same blessing more than once to the weapon.
