Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Wyverns and other draconic predators are among the most dangerous creatures in the world. While many warriors hunt such beasts, some go further—studying their power and adapting their bodies through relentless training and exposure to draconic magic. These fighters become known as Wyvern Slayers.

Rather than casting spells, a Wyvern Slayer channels draconic power through physical transformation. In battle they manifest claws, wings, elemental breath, and other traits drawn from the dragons they study. Over time, these transformations leave lasting marks, hardening their bodies and sharpening their instincts.

By the height of their mastery, a Wyvern Slayer fights with the speed, fury, and resilience of dragonkind itself.

Draconic Training

Through years of training you have conditioned your body and mind to that of a mighty dragon. When you chose this subclass at level 3, you gain the following:

  • You learn to speak, read, and write Draconic. If you already know Draconic, you instead learn one language of your choice.
  • Your body has been conditioned to endure battle like a dragon. While you aren’t wearing armor, your Armor Class equals 13 + your Constitution modifier.
  • You choose the dragon that you either trained under or teachings were passed down. Based on your choice certain subclass features will have the damage type associated with your chosen dragon.

Dragon's Strike: Once on each of your turns when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can channel your draconic training to deal extra damage equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1) of the chosen damage type.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Partial Transformation

You have learned to channel draconic magic through your body, temporarily transforming parts of yourself to mirror the power of dragons. As a Bonus Action, you enter a partial draconic transformation that lasts for 1 minute. When you activate this feature, choose one of the following options, which lasts for the duration. The saving throw DC for any of these effects equals: (8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Constitution modifier)

Dragon's Breath.  A spectral dragon's head forms around yours, crackling with elemental power. When you take the Attack action, you can replace one of your attacks with a breath of elemental energy in either: a 15-foot cone, or a 30-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Creatures in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, a creature takes 2d6 damage of the type determined by your Draconic Affinity. On a success, it takes half as much damage. The damage increases when you reach certain levels.

Level Damage
3 2d6
7 3d6
12 4d6
17 5d6

Dragon's Claws. Your hands transform into draconic claws. Your claws are natural weapons, which count as simple melee weapons with which you are proficient. They deal 1d6 slashing damage, and you use Strength for the attack and damage rolls. Once on each of your turns when you hit with a claw, you can make one additional claw attack as part of the same Attack action.

Dragon's StrengthYour muscles swell with draconic power. You gain:

  • Advantage on Strength (Athletics) checks
  • Advantage on Dexterity saving throws made to avoid being knocked prone or grappled

Dragon's Hunter Instinct. Your senses sharpen to hunt wyvern. You gain:

  • Advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Wisdom (Survival) checks
  • You cannot be surprised while conscious.

Dragon's Presence. Draconic energy radiates from you, unnerving your foes. You gain:

  • Advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks
  • Creatures have disadvantage on opportunity attacks against you.

Dragon's Sight (7th Level or Higher). Your eyes glow with draconic power. You gain Darkvision out to 60 feet. If you already have Darkvision, its range increases by 60 feet.

Dragon's Tail (15th Level or Higher). When you take the Attack action, you can replace one of your attacks with a tail attack:

  • 1d8 piercing damage
  • Reach property
  • When you hit a creature with this attack, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

You can use this feature three times, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Dragon Wings

You have learned to channel a greater surge of draconic power, allowing you to manifest wings of elemental energy. When you activate your Partial Transformation, you sprout spectral wings formed from the elemental power of your chosen dragon. The wings last for the duration of the transformation unless you retract them (no action required) or you gain the Incapacitated condition. While the wings are present, you gain a fly speed equal to your walking speed.

Winged Blitz. You can dive upon your foes with draconic fury. If you move at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and hit it with a melee weapon attack, natural weapon, or unarmed strike on the same turn, you can deal an extra 2d6 damage of the type associated with your Draconic Training.

You can use this benefit a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Hardened Scales

Your body continues to adapt to the draconic magic flowing through you, forming scales that protect you from harm. You gain resistance to the damage type associated with your Draconic Training. In addition, when you take damage, you can use your Reaction to expend one use of your Partial Transformation to harden your scales. When you do so, the chosen benefit applies to the triggering damage, and lasts until the start of your next turn. Choose one of the following benefits:

  • Draconic Immunity. You gain immunity to the damage type associated with your Draconic Training.
  • Draconic Resilience. You gain resistance to all damage.

Permanent Transformation

Your repeated transformations have permanently altered your body, leaving you with lasting draconic traits. You gain the following benefits:

  • Enhanced Speed. Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
  • Enhanced Scales. Your body develops hardened draconic scales. While you aren’t wearing armor, your base Armor Class equals 15 + your Constitution modifier.
  • Dragon’s Heart. If you roll Initiative and have no uses of Partial Transformation remaining, you regain one use of that feature.
  • Draconic Endurance. While your Partial Transformation is active, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Fighter level at the start of each of your turns.

Second Heart

Your body has developed a second draconic heart, granting you the resilience and tenacity of the greatest dragons. You have advantage on death saving throws. In addition, when damage would reduce you to 0 hit points, you can make a Constitution saving throw. The DC equals 10 or half the damage taken, whichever number is higher. On a successful save, you instead drop to 1 hit point, and you can immediately activate your Partial Transformation without expending a use.

Once this saving throw succeeds, you can’t use this feature again until you finish a Long Rest.
