Bard
Base Class: Bard

Most Bards seek to inspire, weaving melodies that mend the soul or stir the heart to bravery. You, however, have found a sharper utility for your art. To a member of the College of Mockery, a well-timed insult is more surgical than a dagger and more devastating than a fireball. You don’t just perform; you dissect. By pinpointing a foe’s deepest insecurities, physical flaws, or tactical blunders, you can shatter their confidence so thoroughly that their very body begins to fail. In your hands, Vicious Mockery isn't just a cantrip—it is a death sentence delivered with a smirk.

Master of Mockery

You gain the Vicious Mockery cantrip, which does not count against your number of cantrips known. You can cast it as a bonus action, and you can also cast it as a reaction when a creature you can see fails a saving throw, ability check, or attack roll; takes damage; fails to cast a spell; or attacks one of its allies. All creatures understand your insults regardless of language, and you can target any creature with the spell as long as it is within range and can hear you, regardless of whether you can see the target or not.

When you cast the spell, add twice your Charisma modifier to the damage. Creatures cannot benefit from resistance or immunity to the spell’s damage or effects, and if a creature successfully saves against the spell, it still takes half damage. Furthermore, a creature affected by the spell has disadvantage on saving throws and ability checks, cannot score critical hits (natural 20s do not automatically hit), and other creatures have advantage on saving throws against the affected target.
As the power of your mockery grows, the spell’s reach and influence expand. At 5th level, you can target up to two creatures and the spell's range doubles. At 11th level, you can target up to three creatures and the range triples. At 17th level, you can target up to four creatures and the range quadruples. Finally, you have advantage on Persuasion and Intimidation checks when you are insulting a creature.

Words Will Always Hurt Them

6th-level College of Mockery feature

You can now cast Vicious Mockery twice per turn. A creature affected by the spell becomes frightened of you, has its speed halved, and cannot gain advantage. All attack rolls against the affected creature have advantage. Additionally, the creature cannot benefit from any resistances and suffers a penalty to all saving throws, ability checks, and attack rolls equal to your Charisma modifier.

You also become a bastion of mental ego. You are immune to being frightened, psychic damage, and magical silencing. These immunities cannot be bypassed unless you choose to be affected. If you would take psychic damage, you instead regain missing hit points equal to the damage; if you are at maximum hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to the damage instead. Any creature that attempts to deal psychic damage to you takes that damage itself. Creatures cannot regain hit points, gain temporary hit points, or benefit from any immunities or resistances against psychic damage you inflict (including reflected damage). Furthermore, you are immune to the effects of all spells on the Bard spell list unless you wish to be affected.

Lethal Mockery

14th-level College of Mockery feature

Your words become a literal force of nature, allowing you to cast Vicious Mockery three times per turn. Creatures have disadvantage on saving throws against the spell and cannot gain advantage on those saves. Depending on the d20 roll of the creature's saving throw, they suffer the following additional effects while affected by the spell:

  • 15 or below: The creature cannot benefit from any immunities.
  • 10 or below: The creature is stunned.
  • 5 or below: The creature is paralyzed.
  • Natural 1: The creature becomes vulnerable to all damage types.
