Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

The Inquisitive specialises in uncovering hidden truths and exploiting weaknesses through careful observation. Where other rogues rely on stealth or speed, an Inquisitive studies opponents, reading their intentions and predicting their actions.

Through subtle cues—body language, tone, hesitation, and pattern—an Inquisitive can uncover deception and identify the precise moment to strike. Their talents make them invaluable investigators, interrogators, and intelligence agents.

An Inquisitive’s greatest weapon is not a blade, but a mind trained to see what others miss.

Level 3: Ear for Deceit

Your practiced ear allows you to detect deception in a creature’s speech. When you make a Wisdom (Insight) check to determine whether a creature is lying, treat any roll of 7 or lower on the d20 as an 8.

Level 3: Eye for Detail

Your mind instinctively notices subtle irregularities and hidden details.

You can take the Search action as a Bonus Action.

Additionally, when you make an Intelligence (Investigation) check to uncover hidden clues or analyse a scene and you spend at least 1 minute studying the area, you make the check with Advantage.

Insightful Fighting

You can size up an opponent and identify the precise moment to strike.

As a Bonus Action, make a Wisdom (Insight) check contested by a creature’s Charisma (Deception) check. If you succeed, you can use your Sneak Attack against that creature even if you do not have Advantage on the attack roll, provided no other creature is within 5 feet of you.

This benefit lasts for 1 minute or until you are Incapacitated, or until you use this feature against a different creature.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 9: Steady Eye

Your careful and deliberate observation reveals details others would miss.

You have Advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks if you move no more than half your speed on the same turn.

Level 13: Unerring Eye

Your instincts allow you to detect deception even when magic conceals it.

As an Action, you can sense the presence of illusions, shapeshifters, or other magic designed to deceive within 30 feet of you.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 17: Eye for Weakness

Your careful study of your opponents allows you to exploit their weaknesses with devastating precision.

When you deal Sneak Attack damage to a creature affected by your Insightful Fighting, you deal an additional 3d6 damage.
