Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Rangers of vespa, using their understanding of hive communication, survival tactics and the versatile material known as "wax".

Vespian rangers will use the tools on hand and the enemies lack of understanding to prevail even in the most dangerous situations.

Wax Coating

starting at 3rd level, you can produce "wax"

Your charges for using wax is equal to your level and recharge every long rest. A charge is roughly 1 handful, and you can expend multiple charges in 1 action. Wax strongly refracts light, sticks to surfaces and hardens quickly after being produced and explodes loudly but weakly when broken. the player can use this in a large variety of ways, as long as the majority of the party and the GM allows it. some examples of how it could be used are:

  • Filling locks to make them unusable
  • hardening a weapons edge to make it deal bludgeoning damage
  • applying it to armour to increase your AC
  • covering eyes to blind opponents

Unless other abilities specify otherwise you cannot apply the wax to your own body.

Refracting Wax

at 7th level, you can utilize the light refracting properties of wax to hide your self.

you can spend 2 minutes and 7 charges of your Wax Coating ability to coat yourself in a thin layer of wax. Once fully covered you become invisible. if the wax is damaged, the damaged wax falls off, leaving the damaged area visible. all the wax falls off in 1 hour, regardless of how much damage has been taken, removing the invisibility status.

Wax Tag

At 11th level you can attach wax to someone or something to track them with ease.

You now know the location of any wax you produce at all time. You can use this to your benefit by spending a bonus action to act a handful of wax to a surface or creature. this lets you keep track of people and locations with extreme ease. You can also explode the wax at any time, dealing 2D8 force damage and triggering a surprise roll if activated outside of combat.

Summon Hivelings

At 15th level you can call denizens of the hive to aid you in combat.

Once per long rest You can summon 2D20 Hivelings to your side. You can dictate their actions with no hesitation from the Hiveling.
