Base Class: Wizard
The Arcane arts are a difficult skill to master but certain individuals have not only mastered the arcane but also how to counter, destroy and steal the abilities of others. This niche brand of mages are as rare as they are powerful, able to give out punishment and counter others as if it were second nature, plundering knowledge from every corner of the arcane, divine and druidic magics.
Thieve's Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy any stolen spell into your spellbook is halved.
Spell Steal
Starting at 2nd Level, when a creature casts a spell of 1st level or higher within 120ft of you, you can use your reaction to make an Arcana check (DC 10 + Spell Level) to identify the spell. If you succeed at identifying the spell you can temporarily add the spell to your spell book, during this time you can cast the spell at its lowest level (requiring you to expend a spell slot) once. The spell will remain in your spell book until the end of your next Long Rest in which time, provided that the spell is part of the Wizard Spell List, you can copy the spell into your spell book. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence Modifier (a minimum of once) and you regain any expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Perfect Counter
At 6th level, you add the Counterspell spell to your spellbook if it is not already there. When you successfully use Counterspell to cancel an opponents spell that spell is automatically added to your spell book as if by your "Spell Steal" feature but doesn't consume one of its uses. Additionally when you make an ability check as part of Counterspell you add your proficiency bonus to that check.
Pirated Wit
Starting at 10th level, after successfully using either Counterspell or Dispel Magic to cancel a magical effect you can choose to gain a +3 bonus to your AC, Saving Throws and Spell Save DC until the end of your next turn. Once you use this feature you, you can't use it until you finish a short or long rest.
Baneful Spell Steal
At 14th level, when you use your "Spell Steal" Feature the creature that activated the reaction must succeed on an Intelligence Saving Throw against your Spell Save DC or be unable to cast the stolen spell until it takes a short rest. Additionally the stolen spells you can copy into your spellbook are no longer required to be from the Wizard Spell List.
