Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

Across generations, certain warrior lineages have passed down a secret technique: the Soulbind. Through ritual, discipline, and inherited knowledge, these fighters bind their spirit to a weapon, turning it into an extension of their very being. A Soulbound Vanguard fights with blade and will alike, striking foes at a distance as if their reach were limitless.

Level 3: Soulbound Weapon

You perform a ritual over the course of 1 hour to bond with a weapon. This weapon becomes your Soulbound Weapon.

  • It must be a melee weapon with which you are proficient.
  • You cannot be disarmed of this weapon unless you are incapacitated.
  • If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon it to your hand (no action required) or dismiss it into a spectral state.
  • You can bond with a different weapon by performing the ritual again.

Floating Strike

As a bonus action, you can release your Soulbound Weapon into a hovering state.

  • While floating, it occupies your space but can move independently.
  • When you make an attack with it, it can strike a target within 25 feet of you.
  • You use your normal attack and damage rolls.

The weapon immediately returns to your hand if you are incapacitated or if you choose to end the effect (no action required).

Level 3: Guided Assault

Your connection allows precise control over your weapon.

  • Your Soulbound Weapon uses your Strength or Dexterity modifier (your choice per attack).
  • When attacking at range with your Floating Strike, you do not suffer disadvantage for being within 5 feet of a hostile creature.
  • The weapon counts as magical for overcoming resistance and immunity.

Level 7: Ancestral Technique

Your mastery of the Soulbind deepens.

  • You can move your floating weapon up to 25 feet as part of each attack (no action required).
  • You can make opportunity attacks with your Soulbound Weapon against creatures within its 25 ft range.
  • Once per turn, when you hit a creature with your floating weapon, you can deal extra damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

Level 10: Twin Vector Control

You learn to split your focus between body and spirit.

When your weapon is floating, you can:

  • Make one attack from your position and one from the weapon’s position when you take the Attack action.
  • Alternatively, both attacks can originate from the floating weapon.

Additionally: You gain a +1 bonus to AC while your weapon is floating.

Level 15: Unbroken Bond

Your connection becomes nearly impossible to sever.

  • If your Soulbound Weapon is more than 25 feet away, it can still return to you instantly (no action required).
  • When you are hit by an attack, you can use your reaction to interpose your floating weapon, reducing damage by 1d10 + your Fighter level.

You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Level 18: Avatar of the Bound Blade

You and your weapon act as one entity in perfect harmony.

  • Your Soulbound Weapon can now attack targets within 50 feet.
  • When you take the Attack action, you can make one additional attack using the floating weapon.
  • Your weapon can occupy its own space within range, allowing you to flank or threaten independently.

Additionally:

  • When you reduce a creature to 0 HP, you can immediately move your weapon and make another attack (once per turn).
