Path of Addiction

Path of Addiction Barbarians channel their fury from their addictions, using their wants to power their strength. Through use of their strong emotions, they are able to achieve extraordinary strength, however they are left on lows of depression that weaken their awareness and physical capability.

The Catalyst

You have developed a dependency on a specific alchemical "Fuel." You gain proficiency with Herbalism Kits or Alchemist’s Supplies.

When you enter your Rage, you must consume a "dose" of your Catalyst (reflavored as a potion, a cookie, or a powder). While Raging, you gain the following benefits:

• The High: You gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Barbarian Level + your Strength Modifier.

• Adrenaline Surge: Your movement speed increases by 10 feet.

The Withdrawal

The cost of your power is steep. When your Rage ends, you suffer Disadvantage on all Ability Checks and Saving Throws using your Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution until you finish a Short or Long Rest, or until you enter a Rage again.

Suppressed Nerves

You have taken so much of a substance your nerves have been damaged, reducing your sense of pain. You can now take a reaction to decrease any non-magical damage by an amount equal to your constitution modifier.

Chasing the Peak

You require stronger doses to feel the same rush. When you use your Relentless Rage feature, you don't just stay at 1 HP—you explode with energy. If you succeed on the save, you immediately regain HP equal to double your Barbarian level, but you gain one level of Exhaustion when the Rage eventually ends.

Permanent Mutation

The substance has altered your DNA. Choose one permanent benefit that is always active, even when not Raging:

• Unnatural Reach: Your limbs lengthen; your melee reach increases by 5 feet.

• Acidic Blood: When a creature hits you with a melee attack, they take Acid damage equal to your Strength modifier.

• Hardened Hide: Your Armor Class increases by +1.
