Monk
Base Class: Monk

Born from the natural fear the Illithids cause int heir quest to consume the minds of mortals. A sect of monks strengthened their wills and clenched their fists to defy these tyrannical mind destroyers. Developing techniques and utilizing their Ki to hunt down these aberrations and end their terror inducing powers. As they drove the Mind Flayers back, their focus began to shift from literal mind dominators to tyrants and despots who rule through the fear and despair of the masses. These mental zealots forge their blades of pure psychic will and brandish them against all who would subject others to horror and mental suffering. Tyranny cannot stand against the might of a blade that cuts the very mind it relies upon.

They use their focused anger as a literal blade against their enemies. Naturally zealous and fervent when disposing of anyone who would feed on the desperation of those under their authority. That is how the Psychic Blades function, as a deterrent against those in power from taking advantage of their charges.

Psychic Blades

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your Ki to create twin blades of Psychic energy when you take the Attack action. They can only be constructed when you aren't wielding any other weapons in either hand. The Psychic Blades are considered your Monk weapons and have the Light property. They replace your standard monk weapons and do damage equal to your Monk Damage Dice + your Wis Modifier. Their damage is Slashing/Psychic in terms of damage calculation, whichever is greater. As with all two weapon fighting, you can use your bonus action to make a second attack with the Psychic Blade on your off hand.

When using your Psychic Blades to attack you gain the fighting style:
Two-Weapon Fighting
-When you engage in two-weapon fighting with your Psychic Blades, you can add your ability modifier (Wisdom) to the damage of the second attack.

Additionally, When you roll a critical hit or a reduce an enemy down to 0 hit points with attacks made with the psychic blades you regain 1 Ki point up to your maximum Ki points allowed by your monk class level. To gain this feature, you must use one of your magical attunement slots for both blades.

Psychic Resistance

When you choose this Tradition at 3rd Level, In training with your Ki to fight the Mindflayers, Monks of this order sharpened their minds to resist the damage the Aberrations could do to their minds thus allowing them more safety in hunting the creatures down. You gain resistance to Psychic Damage.

At 17th Level, You become immune to Psychic Damage.

Psychic Blade Riposte

At 6th level, you gain the ability to strike an enemy after they attempt to attack you with a melee range attack provided they miss you while you are under the influence of the Ki Bonus Action: Patient Defense. You may immediately make a melee attack with your Psychic Blades. This does not use your reaction.

Flurry of Blades

At 6th Level, as a bonus action instead of your Monk Ki Action: Flurry of Blows, you can choose to make 2 attacks with the Psychic Blades instead of the 2 unarmed strikes.

Psychic Exchange

At 11th Level, You raise your ability to psychically interfere with the world but you understand there is a price for doing so. Upon seeing your allies in danger you feel an overwhelming urge to protect them in battle. You go so far as to even interject yourself in their place and save them from destruction.

You can use your reaction and spend 4 Ki points to instantly change places with a willing single ally within 30' who has been designated the target of an attack or is in effect range of an AOE Attack. This exchange does not provoke an opportunity of attack. The attack then resolves as normal.

Empowered Psychic Blades

At 11th Level, Your mind benefits greatly from the amount of Ki coursing through your body allowing you to sharpen your focus as you deploy your Psychic Blades. Your Psychic energies radiate with power and create a honed blade sharper than many legendary weapons. The intensity of the blades glows stronger with the added addition to your empowered Ki.

As an action, You can channel more of your Ki into the mental energies of your Psychic Blades for the next hour. Spend 3 Ki points to gain a +1 to Attack Rolls and Damage Rolls. For every 2 additional Ki Points you can gain another +1, up to a maximum of +3 on your Psychic Blades.

At 17th level, Before the hour is up, as a bonus action, you can spend 2 Ki points to extend the empowered state by another hour.

Psychic Invert

At 17th Level, You sharpen your Ki inside you to interject yourself into the enemy formation. Your mind honed with hardened experience and your body trained for resilience, you are ready to stand toe to toe with foe after foe with your Psychic Blades. Ripping enemies from behind enemy lines and at the same time putting yourself in their place, a ripping blade in the belly of the enemy.

As an Action, Spend 5 Ki Points and all of your remaining regular movement for this turn, Target one small to large size enemy that you can see within 60' and force them to make a Wisdom Saving throw. On a successful save: you lose your Ki, your regular movement becomes 0 feet for this turn, and the invert fails. Upon a save failure by the enemy, exchange places with the enemy unit. You may use your bonus action this round to perform Flurry of Blows/Blades if you are within range to do so.

Psychic Immunity

At 17th Level, Through your rigorous Ki training and intense mental and physical fortitude you have gained the ability to completely ignore psychic damage. The focus of the Psychic Blades have sharpened your mind as well as your control over your Ki have allowed you to surpass the mental limitations of others and confront all the mental dangers the aberrations can throw at you.

You become immune to Psychic Damage.
