Fighter
Base Class: Fighter

A Riftblade Reaver is a warrior who has been altered by exposure to forces beyond the boundaries of reality. Some willingly seek forbidden truths, while others have survived encounters with impossible beings and emerge forever changed. Where an Eldritch Knight masters magic through study, a Riftblade Reaver reshapes it through force of will, warping the hidden fractures of reality to their intent. In battle, they blend martial prowess with aberrant power; their strikes tear open brief rifts in space, causing the same blow to manifest elsewhere. Though often feared, Riftblade Reavers are not bound to any single power or purpose. Some seek to contain the horrors they have witnessed, while others embrace the unraveling of reality itself. Whatever their path, they walk a razor’s edge between mastery and madness.

Spellcasting

When you reach 3rd level, you augment your martial prowess with the ability to cast spells. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the wizard spell list.

Cantrips

You learn two cantrips of your choice from the wizard spell list. You learn an additional wizard cantrip of your choice at 10th level.

Spell Slots

The Riftblade Reaver Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your wizard spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these spells, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a long rest.

For example, if you know the 1st-level spell shield and have a 1st-level and a 2nd-level spell slot available, you can cast shield using either slot.

Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher

You know three 1st-level wizard spells of your choice, two of which you must choose from the abjuration and illusion spells on the wizard spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Riftblade Reaver Spellcasting table shows when you learn more wizard spells of 1st level or higher. Each of these spells must be an abjuration or illusion spell of your choice, and must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 7th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.

The spells you learn at 8th, 14th, and 20th level can come from any school of magic.

Whenever you gain a level in this class, you can replace one of the wizard spells you know with another spell of your choice from the wizard spell list. The new spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots, and it must be an abjuration or illusion spell, unless you’re replacing the spell you gained at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level from any school of magic.

Spellcasting Ability

Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your wizard spells, since your magic stems from intuition and an awareness of forces beyond the boundaries of reality. You use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a wizard spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Riftblade

Once you reach 3rd level, your strikes tear momentary breaches in reality, causing mirrors of the blows to manifest elsewhere. Once per turn when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause a dimensional rift to split the strike. You can choose another creature you can see within 60 feet of you; it takes damage equal to the damage dealt by the triggering attack. You use the same attack roll used for the triggering attack to determine whether the Riftblade attack hits the chosen creature. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your constitution modifier (minimum of 1), regaining all uses on a long rest.

Arcane Strike

Starting at 7th level, when you take the attack action, you can replace one of your attacks with the casting of a cantrip.

Warped Assault

Starting at 10th level, when you action surge, you can teleport up to 30 feet before or after the attacks made as part of that action.

Eldritch Riposte

Starting at 15th level, when a creature within 30 feet of you damages you, you can use your reaction to either cast a cantrip targeting that creature or teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of it and make one melee weapon attack. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Master of the Rift

Starting at 18th level, your mastery over spatial rifts deepens. When you use your Riftblade feature, you can target up to two creatures within 60 feet of you instead of one. If there are fewer than two additional creatures, you can choose the original target as one of the additional targets. A creature can be affected by your Riftblade feature only once per turn. After the effect resolves, you can teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 5 feet of one of the affected creatures. Additionally, when you use your Second Wind, you regain two expended uses of your Riftblade feature.
