Monk
Base Class: Monk

Bartitsu practitioners are more often than not people who don’t see the appeal in the traditional weapons such as swords and axes. They find a nobility in concealing their capabilities and their weapons in more mundane objects, such as sturdy canes and walking sticks. These practitioners are usually commoners or nobles who wish to learn self-defence and martial-arts in a manner that will not be restricted in places such as parties, gatherings and other locations that might have a restriction on weapons. Bartitsu is a martial-arts that uses defence as an offensive measure and that focalises on bringing as many disadvantages to their opponents as possible to make the fight as easy as possible for the Bartitsu practitioner and his allies.

Bartitsu techniques

3rd level Bartitsu master feature.

You learn how to use Bartitsu techniques during a fight. You learn 3 techniques. Bartitsu save Dc is 8+proficiency+dexterity.

  • Tripping cane hook: When you make a melee attack with a bludgeoning simple weapon, you can impose a dexterity saving throw against your Bartitsu save dc to a creature. On a fail the creature falls prone.
  • Energy redirection: When you are targeted by a melee attack that misses you can use your reaction to deflect the attack on another creature 5ft from you. You can also expand 1ki point to deflect the attack back at the attacker. The damage of the redirected attack is the same that was rolled by the creature.
  • Countering defence: When you use the dodge action as your bonus action as described in the Ki feature you gain at your second monk level, you gain the ability to counter attack when you are targeted by a melee attack. You’re counter attack must be an unarmed strike. This counter counts as a reaction.
