Base Class: Warlock
Warlocks who bind themselves to The Discordant do not receive power in an orderly fashion. They bargain with a living contradiction, an immortal trickster, a dragon of disorder, a smiling god of chaos. This patron does not reward obedience, devotion, or careful service, it grants power because the result might be interesting.
The Discordant answers certainty with laughter. Its gift twists plans into riddles, turns misfortune into opportunity, and makes even the battlefield feel like a punchline. To fight under its influence is to move with disorder itself, slipping through the rules and warping the expectations of allies and enemies alike. Those who hold this pact must learn to wear chaos like a cloak. In the highest expression of their bond, a warlock’s magic becomes a beautiful storm of contradiction that smiles as the world loses its shape.
Level 3: Discordant Spellcasting
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Discordant Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Grease, Silent Image, Alter Self, Mirror Image |
| 5 | Hypnotic Pattern, Major Image |
| 7 | Confusion, Polymorph |
| 9 | Animate Objects, Mislead |
Level 3: Discordant Favor
When you cast a Warlock spell of level 1 or higher, roll a d4 after the spell is cast. On a 4, nothing happens. On a 1–3, roll a d12 on the corresponding column of the Discordant Chaos table.
| d4 | Table |
|---|---|
| 1 | Murphy’s Law |
| 2 | Just Another Day |
| 3 | Lady Luck’s Favor |
| 4 | Nothing happens |
You can trigger this feature only once per turn.
If an effect calls for a saving throw, it uses your Warlock spell save DC. If an effect requires a target and doesn’t specify one, the DM chooses a valid target within 60 feet of you. A “chaos event” is any effect created by this feature.
