Fighter
Base Class: Fighter
The chaotic frenzy of a battlefield is not so different from a high-stakes professional kitchen. Both require split-second timing, mastery of fire and steel, and the ability to thrive under immense pressure. Fighters who follow the Battle Chef archetype look at the monsters plaguing the world and see two things: a threat to their allies, and the foundational ingredients for tonight's dinner.
Armed with heavy iron frying pans, razor-sharp meat cleavers, and portable spice pouches, these culinary combatants turn the frontline into their personal prep station. They view the party not just as a band of adventurers, but as a team of hungry patrons who need fuel to survive the dungeon crawl. Whether they are searing a dragon's tail with tactical combat maneuvers or tossing morale-boosting snacks to a bloodied wizard, the Battle Chef ensures that the party always fights on a full stomach.
To a Battle Chef, an Action Surge is simply a rush order, and a critical hit is just a perfectly tenderized cut of meat. Never tell them to get out of the kitchen—because they brought the kitchen with them.

Culinary Arts

You gain proficiency with Cook's Utensils if you do not already have it. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make using them.
Additionally, you have learned to treat your kitchen tools as deadly weapons. You gain proficiency with Improvised Weapons, and when you wield a kitchen utensil as a weapon (such as a heavy iron frying pan or a massive meat cleaver), it deals 1d8 bludgeoning or slashing damage (your choice) and possesses the Versatile (1d10) property.

Feild Prep

You can prepare special, bite-sized tactical snacks called Morsels to sustain your allies during the heat of battle.

  • Preparation: At the end of a long rest, you can prepare a number of Morsels equal to your Fighter level + your Constitution modifier. These snacks retain their potency for 24 hours.
  • Consumption: As a Bonus Action, you or a creature within 5 feet of you can consume a Morsel. Alternatively, when you use your Second Wind feature, you can choose to toss a Morsel to a willing creature within 30 feet of you, allowing them to use their reaction to eat it.
  • The Menu: When a creature eats a Morsel, choose one of the following seasonal properties:
    • Protein Pack: The consumer gains Temporary Hit Points equal to \(1\text{d}6\) + your Constitution modifier.
    • Spicy Sriracha: The consumer's movement speed increases by 10 feet until the end of their next turn.
    • Sugar Rush: The consumer adds a +2 bonus to their next attack roll or saving throw made before the start of your next turn.

Monster Hunter's Palate

You have mastered the art of harvesting edible materials from slain foes. Whenever your party defeats a beast, dragon, monstrosity, or plant creature of Challenge Rating 1 or higher, you can spend 10 minutes harvesting choice ingredients from the carcass.

When you finish a short rest immediately following the harvest, you can cook a Field Feast for up to six creatures. Anyone who partakes in the meal gains a magical adaptation based on the creature type harvested until their next long rest:
  • Beast/Monstrosity: Partakers gain darkvision out to 60 feet (or add 30 feet if they already have it) and advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks.
  • Dragon: Partakers gain resistance to the elemental damage type associated with the dragon (e.g., fire for a Red Dragon).
  • Plant: Partakers gain advantage on saving throws against being poisoned or paralyzed.

Searing Heat

Your affinity for the kitchen flame bleeds into your combat style. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the weapon to flare with intense heat. The attack deals an extra 1d8 Fire damage.
If the target is a creature that can be cooked (such as a beast or monstrosity), it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or become Frightened by the intense searing pain. A distracted creature suffers a -2 penalty to its AC until the start of your next turn as its armor or hide is warped by the heat.

Tenderize

You know exactly how to strike a target to break down its defenses. When you use your Action Surge feature, any successful weapon attacks you make during that turn physically soften the target's resolve and form.
Until the end of your next turn, the target has disadvantage on all saving throws, and the next attack made against it by an ally deals an additional 2d10 damage of the weapon's type.

Iron Chef's "Let Him Cook"

Your focus in the heat of battle becomes absolute and unbreakable. You can trigger a supreme state of culinary concentration as a bonus action, which lasts for 1 minute or until you are incapacitated. While this state is active, you gain the following benefits:
  • Kitchen Command: At the start of each of your turns, you can expend one of your remaining Morsels to instantly grant one ally within 60 feet an extra attack when they take the Attack action on their turn.
  • Boiling Point: Your Searing Heat feature deals 2d8 Fire damage instead of 1d8, and ignores resistance to fire damage.
  • Thick Skinned: You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical attacks.
Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
