Base Class: Bard
Conflict is inevitable. In a world full of dangerous creatures looking for their next meal, gods vying for dominance and people doing awful things in the name of power, it should really come as no surprise. In such a world, it’s up to those caught in the crossfire to help themselves, and others if they can. Individuals that join the College of Battle are more than willing to answer those calls. Bards who train under these conditions prepare themselves for the worst of any situation. Unlike other bards, they do not train to excel in a field, but to be an all-purpose tool, effective no matter what unexpected instances arise. No matter your needs, they can facilitate.
Assess the Threat
At level 3, you gain new uses for your inspiration.
Brace: Whenever a character with your bardic inspiration hits a creature with an attack, they can expend it as a reaction and roll it, adding the number rolled to their damage and their AC until the start of their next turn.
Strike: When a character takes the attack action while they have your bardic inspiration, they can expend it as a bonus action to make an extra attack that turn, rolling the bardic inspiration die and adding the number rolled to the damage in the same type as the triggering attack.
Empower: When expended by a character to add to a D20 Test, your bardic inspiration adds half of your proficiency bonus to the roll.
Ready for War
Also at 3rd level, you have trained to be more capable in combat. While wearing light or less armor, your AC increases by 2 and you gain 10ft move. You gain proficiency with martial weapons, and use your CHA mod for attack and damage rolls with unarmed strikes and weapons you are proficient with.
Combat Prowess
At 6th level, you gain the Extra Attack feature, Additionally, when you take the attack action, you can replace one of the attacks with a casting of one of your bard cantrips. Also, as a reaction when you are within 5ft of a character that does not have your bardic inspiration that is targeted by a melee attack, you can expend a use of your bardic inspiration, rolling the die and adding the result as a bonus to their AC until the end of the triggering attackers turn.
Tactical Superiority
At 14th level, you have reached the pinnacle of your training. When you are using your own bardic inspiration, you may roll a d6 in place of the normal roll, not expending a use. Furthermore, when a character other than yourself rolls your bardic inspiration for the Empower option, if they still fail the roll the die is not expended, and they keep the inspiration.
