Level 3: Greatshield

You have trained to use a full-body shield. It weighs 25 pounds and gives you +3 to AC and dexterity saving throws. (The shield is home-brewed, it is called Greatshielder's Shield, and there are four different ones for levels 1, 5, 11, and 17)

The bonus to AC and dexterity saving throws increases at levels 5 (+4), 11 (+5), and 17 (+6).

Level 3: Penetrate Defences

Being an expert in defence, you can more easily slip past an enemy's defences. You get a +1 bonus to your weapon attacks. This bonus increases at levels 5 (+2), 11 (+3), and 17 (+4). (This is included in the shield's effects for ease)

Level 7: Eye for Defence

You can use an action to study a creature's defences learning what resistances, vulnerabilities, or immunities they have (if any), and you learn their AC.

Level 10: Stalwart

If you would suffer damage less than or equal to your level, you suffer no damage instead. (Whether or not this effect triggers is determined before the damage is reduced in any way)

Level 15: Resilient

You gain proficiency in all saving throws.

Level 18: Riposte

If an enemy rolls a critical failure on an attack against you, you can make an attack against them with advantage (no action required).
