Base Class: Bard
The College of Temptations is a Mesmer subclass focused on single-target control, setup-based damage, and reward-driven elimination of marked enemies. It blends enchantment magic with a unique resource loop that encourages identifying a target, weakening them over time, and capitalizing on their failure.
Mechanically, the subclass is built around four core pillars: Target Designation, Affliction Synergy, Enchantment Mobility and Burst Windows and Kill Rewards.
Level 3: Marked for Collection
You learn to identify and pursue those marked for death.
When you use your Mesmer Afflictions feature on a creature, you can designate it as your Marked Target. You can have only one Marked Target at a time.
While a creature is your Marked Target:
You have advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks made against it.
Once per turn when you deal damage to it, you deal additional psychic damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
You gain advantage on Wisdom(Survival) checks and Wisdom(Perception) checks to track and follow your target.
The designation ends if the creature dies, if you designate a different creature as your Marked Target, or when you finish a long rest.
Level 3: Tempting Words
When you make a Charisma check, you can choose to expend one use of Mesmer Afflictions to gain advantage on the roll.
Level 6: Predator's Pursuit
Your enchantments create openings that few can resist.
When a creature fails a saving throw against one of your spells in the enchantment school, you can immediately move up to half your speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
In addition, attacks you make against creatures charmed by you score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.
Level 14: Apex Predator
When your Marked Target is reduced to 0 hit points, you become an apex predator. For 1 minute:
- Your speed increases by 10 feet.
- You gain advantage on attack rolls against any creature that has been affected by your Mesmer Afflictions.
- Once per turn when you deal melee damage, you deal extra psychic damage equal to your proficiency bonus.
This effect ends early if you are incapacitated.
