Base Class: Monk
To those who follow the Way of the Vessel, the spirit is not a reservoir to be emptied, but a vessel meant to be filled. Every lesson learned, every place explored, every craft perfected, and every hardship endured leaves its mark upon the soul. Their devotion lies not only in mastering ki, but in living a life rich with knowledge and experience.
For this reason, many Vessel Monks are scholars, artisans, chefs, cartographers, and explorers as often as they are warriors. They believe that every new discovery is another offering to their spiritual vessel, and that a full life is the truest path to enlightenment.
Though peaceful by nature, they are terrifying when forced into battle. They willingly endure wound after wound, transforming suffering into strength until they stand bloodied but unbroken amidst the shattered remains of those who mistook endurance for weakness.
Level 3: Opened Vessel
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to manipulate your ki to open your spiritual vessel to harmful energies.
As a bonus action, you can expend 1 or more ki points. For each ki point spent, choose one damage type. You gain resistance to each chosen damage type for 1 minute, to a maximum number of damage types equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use this feature again while it is active, choosing new damage types and resetting the duration.
While this feature is active, whenever one of these resistances reduces damage you take, the amount of damage prevented is stored within your spiritual vessel.
When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can release any amount of the damage stored within your spiritual vessel, dealing that much extra damage with the attack. This extra damage is the same damage type as your unarmed strikes. The damage released is removed from your spiritual vessel.
Any damage remaining within your spiritual vessel is lost when this feature ends or if you are reduced to 0 hit points.
Level 6: Spirit Distillation
Starting at 6th level, you learn to refine the energy stored within your spiritual vessel into pure ki.
Once on each of your turns, you can convert the energy stored within your spiritual vessel into ki without requiring an action. For every 10 points of damage removed from your spiritual vessel in this way, you regain 1 ki point. You can convert any amount of stored damage, but you can't regain ki beyond your normal maximum.
Level 11: Overflowing Vessel
Starting at 11th level, you can unleash the energy stored within your spiritual vessel in a violent burst.
As an action, you can release any amount of damage stored within your spiritual vessel. Each creature of your choice within 10 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw against your Ki save DC. A creature takes force damage equal to the amount of damage released on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The damage dealt by this feature is considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. The damage released is removed from your spiritual vessel.
Level 17: Perfected Vessel
Starting at 17th level, you have mastered the art of opening your spiritual vessel, allowing it to withstand nearly any form of harm.
As a bonus action, you can expend 10 ki points to enter this perfected state for 1 minute. While in this state, you gain resistance to all damage types and immunity to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks.
The resistances granted by this feature function as though they were granted by your Opened Vessel feature, allowing any damage they prevent to be stored within your spiritual vessel.
Likewise, whenever your immunity to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage prevents damage, the full amount of damage prevented is stored within your spiritual vessel.
