Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Collectors of true names, the ones who summon outsiders.

Level 3: Keeper of the Profane, True Name Collector

At 2nd level, While you know a demon’s true name you may bind it to your spellbook. This process takes two hours and 10gp, multiplied by the challenge rating of the demon. The taint of putting such things to words leaves an indelible corruption upon it, one that must be kept in check. You may only bind an amount of true names equal to half your level (rounded down) plus two. When gaining a new level you may scour any amount of names to make room for others. If the spellbook is destroyed the names remain in your memory, and may be scribed into a new volume for the above cost, in half the time.

You start with 2 true names of demons of a type of your choice. Each time you level your contacts provide you with an opportunity to gain an additional name. You may not choose demons whose Challenge rating is higher than your level. Opportunities may arise to gain others, per your DMs discretion.

Level 3: Modify Summons

Upon gaining 2nd level, The Summon Greater Demon spell is added to your spellbook, and may now be alternatively cast with the following modifications:

  • The component used to cast it need not come from a killed humanoid.
  • You may extend the cast time to one hour, doing so extends the duration to 10 hours.
  • The spell is cast as a 1st level or higher spell, with the CR of the summoned creature being limited to the spell level plus one instead.
  • The Demon may only attempt to save against the spell’s effects each time it has been given a command.
  • Only Demons with their true names recorded in your spellbook may be summoned this way.

Level 6: Reinforced Wards

At 6th level your demons rip through from the other side brimming with power. Whenever you summon creatures using Infernal Calling or Summon Greater Demon they gain these benefits while still controlled.

  • You and the creatures receive your wizard level in temporary hitpoints when they are first summoned. You may only receive temporary hitpoints this way once per long rest.
  • The creatures use your spell attack modifier to hit if it would be higher.

Level 10: Mastery Over Outsiders, Minor

At 10th level, Demons with a Challenge Rating one quarter your level or less no longer count towards your maximum you can bind to your spellbook.

In addition, when a creature succeeds a Charisma check or save within 30ft of you, as a reaction, you may cast Banishment targeting it without expending a spell slot. If a fiend is banished by successfully you regain an expended spell slot with a level equal to or less than the fiends CR. This may be performed once per long rest.

Level 14: Mastery Over Outsiders, Major

At 14th level, as a reaction to losing control of a summoned creature (through loss of concentration or otherwise) you may attempt a DC 15 Charisma check (your choice of deception or persuasion). Succeeding this check re-asserts your control over them, and alters their remaining summon duration to 1 minute if applicable.
