Base Class: Warlock
Soul mages are a very diverse and strong group, with it your powers and abilities are your imagination.
ALSO IM SORRY THAT THE DESCRIPTION IS BROKEN RN ITS ALL JUMBLED UP BECAUSE OF ALL THE BAJILLIONS OF SOUL TRAITS
DW ITS ALL NORMAL IN THEIR RESPECTIVE PARTS
Keen Senses
Soul Mages are natural prodigies at using their senses and brains against the opposition
They also gain a check called SOUL and this is the description:
The SOUL is the main lifeforce of a Human. Human SOULS are EXTREMELY powerful, yet most Humans lack the knowledge to use magic or defend against it so they mostly rely on their strong SOULS, anything that can threaten that and you will be required to make a SOUL check by the dms discretion. (For example if a Human loses their will and determination via something traumatic or if they go against their very self of what that SOUL that they have is(eg a Bravery SOUL acts out of fear and abandons the idea of their trait). Their SOUL can lose its trait resulting in a Traitless/Grey SOUL which results in ALL of their higher power disappearing, a Human without a trait is weak and that Human may decide to make a SOUL check if they do an action that befits a SOUL trait they had originally or what they COULD have to see whether they can successfully gain back a trait) Human SOULS and more importantly their WILL to live is ALWAYS vastly stronger and more potent in nature compared to hundreds of monster SOULS combined although they have vastly limited reservoir of Magic and are usually less proficient in it compared to the average Monster as their biology is not magical in nature
ALL soul traits will have a base expertise in this skill (tied to CON). Proficiency goes down when a soul greys and goes to non proficient when a soul goes traitless
Soul Type
Soul Trait Description:
Soul traits are set in stone from a very early age, Humans usually start to show traits when they are between 5-8 years old before that every human is Traitless.
Nearly every humans soul is made up of multiple traits, the highest percentage trait is the trait that shows and is most commonly known as the "dominant trait" (eg 60% Kindness/40%Patience = Kindness is the dominant trait) Determination is an outlier, every human trait has Determination to some extent but the Determination SOUL is only ever presented when a human shows equal percentage amounts of EVERY trait. Determination is the only SOUL that cannot be gained back prior to your soul going traitless. If lost the Determination is gone forever in most circumstances (can only ever be gained back after having DT as a starting trait but even then its rare, if Determination wasnt a starting trait it can never be gained)
Roll a d8 for your STARTING soul trait (In special cases one is chosen for you by the dm) the choices are:
1. Traitless/Grey
2. Kindness
3. Patience
4. Integrity
5. Justice
6. Bravery
7. Perseverance
8. Determination
Inverted Traits:
How It Is Formed:
A soul cannot naturally be born with an inverted trait. Inversion is achieved through a dangerous and highly lethal spell where a substance known as HATE is allowed to corrupt the soul from within. This shifts the user's magic entirely, often sacrificing their sanity and self-control for raw power and lethality. Users of inverted traits still have the capacity to be good or choose to be bad in their own way. Note this is different to when HATE corrupts the soul naturally where they are often under the control of HATE, instead the user still retains full self control nor are they infected by HATE as it is destroyed after being used in the spell for all intensive purposes they are still themselves but often as a more darker persona.
The Process for the Spell:
Depends heavily on how your dm wants to have it, they can have their own way or take from this
If they dont want to add HATE as a game system at levels 12 and higher (I recommend the soul mage grab a glass vial), at 12 and every level above you can then roll a d100 to see if you can manifest the congealed HATE from the creatures you have slaughtered into a dark viscous liquid and flow it out of your soul and into the vial (50 and over is a succeed below that is a fail and you will have to roll a CON save DC 15 to resist the hate (unless your soul is kindness then you automatically succeed) on a fail the hate takes over your body for 1 day and you attack everything and everyone in sight. On a succeed you bring the hate down until your next level up).
The character will usually not naturally know the spell except in divine specific circumstances (or if the dm is lazy), so they will have to search for the spell that uses the hate as its material to invert their trait.
After they have found it, the process is here. If they fail at any point their soul fractures into pieces and they die INSTANTLY. (Determinations process is different. If they fail they just get taken over for 5 days)
1. The Casting
They cast the spell so they roll both a d100 and a CON save. (Higher than 50 and DC 18) (Determination does not need to cast the spell so they only need to roll CON)
2. The Resisting
They will have to roll a WIS save to resist the psychological effects of the hate reverting their soul. (DT rolls with advantage and their process ends here)
3. The Longevity
The sheer effect of inverting their trait will have extreme effects on their soul that they will have to resist. Roll a CON save (DC 17). On a succeed they finish the spell, their level is reduced by HALF (eg spell at level 12 after they do the spell they are level 6) and their soul is permanently inverted to that soul for the rest of the campaign (even if they lose their trait, that specific inverted trait is the only trait they can ever gain back, with the exception of Animosity, instead of the soul graying, HATE just takes over them for 1 day). On a fail at this stage they have 2 days until they inevitably die, to "Live" they will have to perform a soul swapping spell to a near dead or willing host (They gain 2 temporary casts of the wizard necromancy spell "Magic Jar" to which they transfer the inside of their soul to (not the edge/outline of the soul that is cracking) they then take over another body with that inverted trait. This turns their soul PINK "BΓͺte Noire spell ref" and they start over as that character, their will carrying on but not being that character, if they dont manage to do so they die permanently.)
Soul Afflictions/Graying:
Soul magic comes with its risks, abusing its power too much it may cause exhaustion, or even render the mage unconscious.
The graying of a soul comes in various stages, it is caused by the general loss of something (generally motivation or trauma), and it causes great harm to Soul mages, as it weakens their magic. However, Soul Graying isn't permanent, it may also be reversed but only in exceptional circumstances.
The Graying of a soul comes in 5 phases (Determination as an example):
Bravery
One of the dominant traits usually shown as an orange heart
Key Characteristics and Mechanics:
Bravery is widely depicted as a highly offensive, physical, and close-range combat trait. Often associated with fire and explosive magic, or martial arts. Bravery is split into Physical Bravery (resisting pain, exhaustion, and injury) and Moral Bravery (acting correctly despite social rejection). The Bravery SOUL is typically associated with extreme superhuman physical power such as increased movement speed, high critical hit rates, or raw damage multipliers.
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
Enhanced Physical traits, immunity to exhaustion and resistance to fire damage.

Abilities:
3rd Level
Bravery Basher
Pyrokinetics
5th Level
Explosive System
Determination
The Determination SOUL is the rarest, most powerful primary human SOUL trait, this is because it is made up of equal parts of all of the other traits, Determination is represented by a bright red colour. Driven entirely by pure willpower, it possesses limitless potential and gives its wielder unmatched combat capabilities and reality-bending control over timelines
Mechanics&Abilities:
- Extreme Rarity: Only one Determination SOUL is born per generation, meaning two natural Determination wielders almost never exist simultaneously.
- Willpower-Driven: Its magic is fueled exclusively by the user's resolve; if the user completely loses hope, the SOUL can lose its power
- Weapon Manifestation: Bearers can shape their magical aura into solid weaponry, most famously the Katana of Determination and the Determination Shield/Barrier.
- Refusing Death: At peak willpower, a Determination SOUL can literally refuse to shatter upon death, instantly reviving the host or granting them a secondary combat phase.
-
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants all of the other souls passives in some way:
Extra attacks and you cannot be slowed by magical effects, 25 max TempHP this regens to max on a short rest Your TempHP and your barrier has immunity to nonmagical bludgeoning and slashing and immunity to necrotic to force damage and resistance to hate damage, gun feats and a bonus to attack rolls made with ranged weapons and melee attacks, enhanced physical traits and immunity to exhaustion
Integrity
The Integrity trait is one of the most versatile traits. It's abilities can be applied in a variety of situations and they can be difficult to deal with if not prepared. The biggest weakness of this trait is how easy it is for a human to lose their trait, so humans with this trait have to be very careful an know their limits. When someone like this does exist, however, Integrity can be one of the most powerful traits.
Integrity has access to:
- Weapon of Integrity: An integrity wizard can summon their own weapon made out of their own magic, but it takes a lot of practice for the user to master it fully. Integrity weapons don't have a theme unlike other traits due to the versatility of its magic.
- Gravity Manipulation: Integrity users have the ability to manipulate gravity, usually via creating platforms in the air out of magic. While seemingly basic, these platforms can allows the user to walk on vertically or upside down. They also can release large amounts of kinetic force, which can be used offensively as well as to propel oneself.
- Space Manipulation: Integrity users can create portals that can transfer the kinetic energy of their blows even without being up close
- Out of all the other traits, Integrity has the highest chance of losing its magic.
- This trait is easy to lose because it is common human nature to lie, break morals, etc.
- It can be lost even if the user lies for a good purpose.
- A good Integrity wizard knows their limits and has both emotional and moral strength.
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
+6 to attack rolls made with Melee weapons
You have resistance to Slashing Damage

Abilities:
3rd Level
Soul Weapon
Blade Altar
5th Level
Perfected Blue Magic
βππ πππβ―
The Impulse SOUL represents the dark, negative opposite of the traditional Cyan/Light blue SOUL trait. Instead of waiting calmly and slowing things down, an inverted patience soul acts with extreme restlessness, aggression, and speed users are often very restless and quickpaced to start fights.
Soul Mechanics:
- Dark Cyan / Blue-Green Aesthetics: The bright cyan hue of the soul darkens significantly to match its corrupted state.
- Volatile Construct Magic: Instead of steady, defensive constraints, the user conjures weaponized, razor whip-like tentacles or sharp strings meant to grab, slash and destroy physical surroundings rather than trap them.
- Velocity Manipulation: Rather than slowing things down to look for an opening, users often cause projectiles, objects or opponents to speed up uncontrollably, creating chaos in combat
-
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
Immunity to any Magic Induced Condition - You cannot be Damaged by Magic
- Buffed Patience passives:
You have resistance to cold damage. Extra attacks and speed

Abilities:
3rd Level
Whip of Impulsivity

Justice
Key Characteristics & Mechanics of Justice magic:
- Emotional Trait: A human with a Justice soul has an exceptionally strong, stable mind that prevents their emotions from fluctuating erratically.
- Combat Focus: Unlike defensive traits like Kindness, Justice magic specializes strictly in brute force ranged attacks.
- Weapon Manifestation: Users can materialize magical physical weapons. They primarily summon projectiles, energy beams, or firearms (like a yellow gun or energy bullets) to strike targets from a distance.
- Justice Humans can be easily identified in a group due to their strong moral personality.
- They tend to show and manifest their traits at a very young age.
- A Justice wizard's magic is rarely negatively affected by situations the user gets themselves into. This is because the user relies on their own morals and decisions to boost their magic.
- If a decision appears right in the user's eyes, even if considered wrong by others, it will remain justifiable in the user's eyes and will not affect their magic.
- Users of this trait are usually seen amongst royalty, or in charge of military and political issues.
-
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
Gun Feats and +6 to attack rolls made with ranged weapons

Abilities:
3rd Level
Justice Gun
Object Manipulation
5th Level

Kindness
Key Mechanics:
-

-

Patience

- Time Mastery: The rare ability to briefly slow down or even stop time, making projectiles sluggish and slowing down enemies.
- Tethers & Strings: Conjuring, rope-like tethers that can restrain opponents or pull the user/enemies across the battlefield.
- Weapon Creation: Some users even demonstrate the ability to create weapons like scythes
- Space Manipulation: A rarity among Patience users, but the highest level of mastery of this soul allows the manipulation of space around a target
-
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
You have resistance to cold damage.

Abilities:

Perseverance
One of the dominant soul traits often depicted as light magenta/purple. This SOUL also has a mutation, if this SOUL is rolled or gotten roll 3 d100's, if combined roll is above 270 then you gain the mutated trait, X!Soul.
Key Mechanics & More:
Individuals with this trait are renowned for high stamina, immense durability, and the stubborn will to never stop trying, even if they are heavily damaged in the process and because its stability scales alongside the user's mental resolve, it is incredibly rare for a wizard to lose this magic unless they completely abandon their goals.
Users are often depicted utilizing focused, close-range melee or ranged magic attacks, balanced equally between defence and offense, projectiles from this trait completely prevents the victim from executing any of their spells for 1 round. Abilities that hit a target also cannot be healed from as it leaves a stubborn permanent mark that can only be healed by Power Word Heal.
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
Most attacks do not do damage but instead reduce the opponents max hp by the "damage done" completely bypassing resistances and immunities, +6 to damage rolls when under 50% hp.
Abilities:
3rd Level
Perseverant Axe
Impervious Fighter
5th Level
Perseverant Slashes
Traitless
- The Grey Soul: Grey is the most common colour associated with a traitless soul. It signifies apathy, neutrality, or detachment, having abandoned their former trait rather than inherently good or evil magic.
- Emotion-Driven Changes: Traitless souls act as a "blank slate." Because they lack a permanent personality trait, they have the unique ability to react to the host's emotions, temporarily changing colour and shape based on the feelings experienced.
- Lack of Magic: A traitless human is an individual incapable of naturally manifesting Chromatic Magic or special traits and is very common as most humans lose their soul traits. They are also unable to cast spells from any spell tree or school

ππ πΆππ½π
Apathy, the corruption of endurance into emotional emptiness, users feel a loss or purpose, drive and an inability to care.
Soul Mechanics:
- Despair: Instead of moving forward with purpose, the soul creates a wide-area field that drains magic and induces overwhelming hopelessness in enemies.
- Spite and Submission: A two-sided inversion theory where the wielder either acts out of bitter resentment to ensure their opponent loses with them or completely surrenders their own will to blindly follow someone else
- Reluctance: Utilized in specific mechanical text to signify a complete hesitation or resistance to acting.
-
Having this soul trait also passively grants:
- Ability to subside Death
- Immunity to insanity and negative charisma checks towards the user

Abilities:

A Corruption user is morally void, negative and outwardly evil, they do not care about what is good they will do what they like if theres something worthwhile to be gotten from it
Soul Mechanics:
- From Judgement to Personal Vendetta: Where a standard Justice soul uses ranged magic (like yellow bullets) to enforce objective fairness, an inverted user acts out of purely selfish bias, personal spite, or unyielding punishment towards a specific target.
- Twisted Weaponry: Inverted traits typically retain weapon types similar to their original forms but with malicious distortions. For example, the precise, long-range firearms or constructs of a Justice user manifest as unstable, heavy-destructive weaponry fueled by HATE.
- Vendetta: Corruption users gain a personal beef towards neutral good and righteous races and all humanoid targets
-
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
You receive -6 damage from ranged attacks - Buffed Justice passives.
- An extra 1 dice of damage against neutral and good races, which scales up as you level (2 dice) at level 5, (3 dice) at level 14, and (4 dice) at level 17).

Abilities:
3rd Level
Twin Revolvers

Integrity is often associated with honesty consistency, morality and staying true to oneself. Deceit on the other hand, revolves around contradiction, manipulation and a constant change of identity. Deceit users never like to get their hands dirty, they always aim to achieve total destruction of minds rather than attack themselves
The Soul Mechanics:
- Mind & Perception Control: Using persuasion or illusions to actively control or deceive others.
- Stat Debuffs: Lowering an opponent's agility or gravity stability rather than boosting the user's own.
- Aura of Dishonesty: Forcing nearby individuals to become more willing to lie or use dirty tactics.
- Gravity Distortion: Forcing a targets gravity to go completely haywire
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
You are immune to any kind of illusion and also know where the source of the illusion is

Wrath users are often prone to be very cruel, cold hearted and downright evil, polar opposite as to what it wouldve been. While a standard Kindness SOUL is vibrant green, its inverted counterpart usually shifts into a darker, corrupted greenish-yellow or lime-black hue.
Mechanics:
- Reversed Powers: Instead of generating defensive shields and healing magic, an inverted Kindness user generates offensive, spiked barriers and decay magic that rots or harms targets upon contact or purposefully healing a target wrong and distorting their entire body being precise enough to change physiology and even the targets sex on pure spite.
- Passive Influence: Individuals holding this trait can forcibly project a "Malice Increase," making nearby targets less empathetic and more prone to cruel thoughts and violence.
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants:
Immunity to Any Magic Induced Condition - Buffed Kindness passives:
- Your barriers and tempHP have Immunity to Non magical bludgeoning and slashing damage. And Immunity to Necrotic and Force damage.
ππ·π²πΆπΈπΌπ²π½π
When a Determination user possesses an overwhelmingly powerful will, they can overcome and take control of the HATE inside them. This stable, controlled state of corrupted determination magic is called Animosity. It allows the user to wield the black substance as a weapon (such as upgrading their weapons and shields) without losing their sanity. Animosity users are often determined and kind but numb to the happiness in the world
Mechanics:
- Origins: Originally created thousands of years ago, the concept of HATE is a magical construct and manifestation of hatred itself.
- Enhancement: HATE thrives off of determination, taking control of a host's body, numbing their positive emotions, and radically amplifying their magical output
- Willpower-Driven: Its magic is fueled exclusively by the user's resolve.
- Weapon Manifestation: Bearers can shape their magical aura into solid weaponry.
- Refusing Death: At peak willpower, a Determination SOUL can literally refuse to shatter upon death, instantly reviving the host or granting them a secondary combat phase.
-
Having this Soul Trait also passively grants all of the other souls passives in some way:

Hate Damage:
Hate is a type of damage that: Goes past any barrier, except kindness and Determination ones, Deals unhealable damage, however, resting will Heal all of it. No one except Kindness Mages have Immunity to hate damage, as it represents the corruption of one's soul.
Being an Hate Beast Also Grants:

It is impossible to naturally be born with a Fear soul. Instead, someone can turn their soul into this by inverting their trait of Bravery, to Fear. They do this by having HATE enter their soul and change them from within. In fact, Fear's natural color is dark orange, but when the Bete noire spell is used on the Fear trait, it turns pink.
Soul Mechanics:
- Illusion Manipulation: The user can manifest a target's deepest terrors or disguise themselves as someone their opponent loves to lower their guard.
- Minion Summoning: It can create physical constructs or sentient helpers (like Akumu) to aid in battle or manipulate others constucts.
- Stat Manipulation: Fear can actively sap the motivation and willpower of an opponent, directly weakening Determination wielders whose strength relies entirely on their resolve.
- Fear Manipulation: A fear user can manipulate their own fear to their own wills and needs gaining power from sensing it.
- Fear users start off in a Split soul state where they share strength with a fear avatar called Akumu, if they wish to they can merge back into one revealing their true form
