Base Class: Rogue
Shadow Thieves are masters of concealment, infiltration, and silent movement. Rather than relying solely on speed or conventional stealth, they have learned to blend themselves into darkness until they become nearly impossible to perceive.
A Shadow Thief can vanish into the shadows with remarkable speed, slipping past guards, stalking unsuspecting targets, and striking from places their enemies believed were empty. As their mastery grows, they learn to manipulate the shadows themselves, moving through darkness with supernatural ease and becoming increasingly difficult—even for those actively searching for them — to detect.
Some Shadow Thieves use their abilities to become exceptional thieves and infiltrators, while others turn their mastery of darkness toward espionage or assassination. Whatever their purpose, a Shadow Thief is most dangerous when their enemies know they are nearby but cannot determine exactly where they are.
Level 3: Shadowmeld
You have learned to blend seamlessly into the shadows. While you are in Dim Light or Darkness, you can take the Hide action as a Bonus Action.
When you make a Dexterity (Stealth) check to Hide while in Dim Light or Darkness, you have Advantage on the check.
While you remain Hidden in Dim Light or Darkness, you remain concealed until you leave the area, make an attack, cast a spell, or otherwise reveal your position.
You cannot use this feature while in Bright Light.
Level 9: Umbral Veil
Your mastery of shadow allows you to obscure yourself from the senses of those searching for you.
While you are Hidden and in Dim Light or Darkness, creatures have Disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks made to locate or perceive you.
A creature that fails a Perception check to locate you cannot attempt another check to locate you until the beginning of its next turn.
Level 13: Shadowstep
You have learned to travel through the shadows themselves. As a Bonus Action, you can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is in Dim Light or Darkness.
You must begin and end this teleportation in Dim Light or Darkness.
Level 17: Shadowcraft
Your mastery of shadow has reached its peak, allowing you to give darkness a temporary physical form.
While you are in Dim Light or Darkness, you can manipulate nearby shadows to create brief, simple physical effects. The shadows can extend from you or from an area of Dim Light or Darkness within 30 feet of you.
Your shadows can briefly cover creatures or objects, trip or impede creatures, manipulate unattended objects, or otherwise interact with the environment in simple ways, at the DM's discretion.
These manifestations cannot permanently alter objects, deal damage, or support more weight than you can normally lift. A shadow manifestation disappears immediately after completing the task it was created to perform.
