Gamble on the Edge of  Life and Death

Barbarians who walk the Path of the Gambler place their lives in the hands of fate itself. These warriors are infamous gamblers, duelists, and thrill-seekers whose fortunes spiral wildly between disaster and triumph, and they are always on the lookout for their next jackpot.

Level 3: Roll the Dice

As a Bonus Action, you can roll a d20, gambling for a Jackpot. If you roll a 20, you immediately enter a special Rage called a Jackpot Rage without expending a use of your Rage. If you are already raging, your Rage instead becomes a Jackpot Rage. Your Jackpot Rage lasts for 5 rounds.

If you do not roll a 20, your Jackpot range increases by 1. For example, after one failed roll, your Jackpot occurs on a roll of 19 or 20. This continues until you hit a Jackpot. When you hit a Jackpot or if you do not use this feature for 1 minute, the Jackpot range resets to 20.

While in your Jackpot Rage, you gain the following additional benefits while raging:

  • At the start of each of your turns, you regain Hit Points equal to your Barbarian level plus your Constitution modifier.
  • After taking damage, you regain Hit Points equal to half the damage you took.
  • Your Speed increases by 10 feet.

Level 3: Fortune’s Favor

Once per turn, when you make a d20 Test, you can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the result. You can use this feature after seeing the d20 roll but before knowing whether the roll succeeds or fails.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 6: Stacked Odds

When you use your Roll the Dice feature, you can roll twice and use either result.

In addition, whenever you score a Critical Hit, your Jackpot range immediately increases by 1 until your next Jackpot or your next long rest.

Level 10: Go With the Flow

Each time you enter your Jackpot Rage during combat, your critical hit range increases by 1 until you finish the combat or if you do not use Roll the Dice for 1 minute. For example, if your attacks normally score a Critical Hit on a roll of 20, they instead score a Critical Hit on a roll of 19 or 20.

This effect can stack to a maximum critical hit range of 17–20.

Level 14: House Always Wins

Once per Long Rest, when you use Roll the Dice, you can choose to hit the Jackpot instead of rolling.

Additionally, when you would take damage during your Jackpot Rage, you can reduce its remaining duration by 1 round to reduce that damage to 0. This benefit requires no action, and you can use it after the damage is rolled but before the damage is applied.
