Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

A subclass for Barbarians who chose the Fire Specialization during character creation for The Crystal Hunt Campaign.

The spells and abilities in this subclass allow you to burn your path into the ground, devastating any who dare step into it. Foes will blister to a fine crisp from being set alight, their feeble attacks only fanning your flames as you show them what raw energy looks like as it's released from every pore of your skin. Ashes to ashes, and more ashes

Blessing of Vayularim

As someone with a natural gift for pyromancy, you gain the following features:

  • When an attack or spell by you deals 2 or more fire damage to a target, that target becomes Heated until their next turn, and all fire attacks against them gain +1 fire damage.
  • If a Heated target takes any additional fire damage, they begin Burning, and all fire attacks against them gain +2 fire damage.
  • Burning targets take 1d4 fire damage for every action taken by a character until the target's next turn. At the beginning of their next turn, they stop Burning, and they must make a constitution saving throw. They gain Advantage on this throw if they are wearing metal armor. On a failed save, the target's turn ends.
  • Blessing of Vayularim also grants you the Fire Bolt spell.

Level 4: Burning Frenzy

Your rage becomes so energetic that it heats the very atmosphere around you. Your weapon becomes a blazing conduit, glowing a fiery orange as embers spit off the surface of your blade.

  • If you use Reckless Attack while your Rage is active, you deal extra damage to the first target you hit on your turn with a Strength-based attack. To determine the extra damage, roll a number of d6s equal to your Rage Damage bonus, and add them together. The damage has the same type as the weapon or Unarmed Strike used for the attack.
  • The imbued blow also sears the target's skin, dealing extra fire damage equal to 1d6 if your first attack roll is taken, or 1d4 if your second attack roll is taken.

Twin Flames

  • When you cast Fire Bolt, you now cast two instances of the spell at up to two targets.

Level 6: Explosive Rage

  • You have Immunity to the Charmed and Frightened conditions while your Rage is active. If you’re Charmed or Frightened when you enter your Rage, the condition ends on you.
  • You gain Immunity to fire damage while your Rage is active, and any fire damage that hits you is stored instead. the stored fire damage is unleashed on the next target you hit with a Reckless Attack. The stored damage fizzles out if your Rage ends.
  • You gain the Charge Fireball action.

Level 8: Searing Retaliation

Your body has become an undying furnace, and every footstep singes the ground beneath you. Foes who get too close will feel the burn.

  • When you take damage from a creature that is within 5 feet of you, you can take a Reaction to make one melee attack against that creature, using a weapon or an Unarmed Strike.
  • If your reaction attack succeeds, the creature also takes an extra 2d6 fire damage and becomes Heated. If your Rage is active, they instead make a constitution saving throw. On a failed throw, they start Burning, and they become Heated on a successful one.

At higher class levels, your reaction attack deals an additional 1d6 of extra fire damage for each class level above 8th.

Level 10: Infernal Presence

  • As a Bonus Action, you can strike terror into others with your menacing presence and fiery power. When you do so, each creature of your choice in a 30-foot Emanation originating from you must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 plus your Strength modifier and Proficiency Bonus). On a failed save, a creature begins Burning and has the Frightened condition for 1 minute. At the end of each of the Frightened creature’s turns, the creature repeats the save, ending the effect on itself on a success.
  • Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest unless you expend a use of your Rage (no action required) to restore your use of it.
  • When you unlock this feature, Burning creatures now take 2d6 fire damage per action taken by a character instead of 2d4.
