Base Class: Sorcerer
Some sorcerers inherit the fire of a dragon. You inherited something further back — the blood of a Progenitor, a creature of raw mana that existed before the shapes magic was meant to take. It has never fit comfortably in a mortal body. Your scales sit beneath the skin and surface only when something opens you. Your mana leaks from you constantly and is visible to anyone who looks. In time you will learn to wear the shape your blood keeps insisting on, and the world will have opinions about that.
Level 3: Aetherion Scales
The blood in your body insists on a shape it cannot quite reach. Your Hit Point maximum increases by 3, and it increases by 1 whenever you gain another Sorcerer level.
Scales lie beneath your skin. They are not visible. They rise only where something opens you, and a wound reaches them before it reaches anything softer. While you aren't wearing armor, your base Armor Class equals 10 plus your Dexterity and Charisma modifiers.
Mana Smoke. More of you leaks out than a body should allow, and it is visible. A thin haze rises off your scalp and hair at all times, heavier when you are pushing power through yourself or when something gets under your composure. Holding it down takes no action, only attention, and attention is the first thing to go.
Level 3: Aetherion Spells
When you reach a Sorcerer level specified in the Aetherion Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Sorcerer Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Shield, Chromatic Orb, Hold Person, Mirror Image |
| 5 | Fireball, Counterspell |
| 7 | Ice Storm, Blight |
| 9 | Vitriolic Sphere, Cone of Cold |
Level 6: Aetherion Affinity
Your magic has an affinity with a damage type. Choose one of those types: Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Poison.
You have Resistance to that damage type, and when you cast a spell that deals damage of that type, you can add your Charisma modifier to one damage roll of that spell.
Hybrid Form. As a Bonus Action, you can take on a hybrid shape: scales across your outward surfaces, a largely draconic face, a sixteen-foot wingspan, and a prehensile tail. You retain your size and can speak normally. You gain a Fly Speed equal to your Speed. Your claws and tail count as magical natural weapons that deal 1d6 Slashing damage on a hit, and you can suppress their magical quality at will. You have Resistance to Poison damage while in this form. The form lasts until you dismiss it (no action required) or you die.
Level 14: Full Dragon
As a Bonus Action, you can take the shape of a dragon. Your size, mass and appearance change as you choose — the smallest of these shapes is barely two feet, the largest is a matter of geography — but your game statistics are unchanged except as noted here. Your Fly Speed becomes 60 feet. Your claws, tail and bite count as magical natural weapons that deal 1d10 Slashing damage on a hit. You cannot cast spells with Verbal components suppressed, and you cannot conceal what you are.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest unless you spend 3 Sorcery Points (no action required) to restore your use of it.
Level 18: Full Output
As a Bonus Action, you can drop your suppression for 1 minute. For the duration, you add your Charisma modifier plus 2 to every damage roll of every spell you cast. When the effect ends, you have Disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until you finish a Short Rest.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
