Base Class: Wizard
Blending spellcasting with science, you distill your magic into concoctions that harm or heal.
Potion Craft
Beginning when you select this arcane tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Medicine and with alchemist’s supplies and herbalism kits. Additionally, you have learned to create magical concoctions. You can create any number of concoctions using your alchemist supplies or herbalism kit for 10 minutes, expending a spell slot for each concoction created. When you do, for each concoction created, choose a spell from your wizard’s spell book that targets only one creature. The chosen spell must be of an equal or lower level than the expended spell slot.
When a creature consumes the concoction, it becomes the target of the spell as if you had just cast it. If the spell requires concentration, the creature that consumes the potion needs to concentrate on it. Concoctions created this way lose their magical effect at the end of your next long rest.
Also at 3rd level, when you craft a concoction, you can choose to expend a spell slot without choosing a spell, instead creating magic medicine. When a creature consumes your magic medicine, you roll 1d8 per level of the spell slot expended casting the spell, and the creature regains an equal number of hit points. If you expended a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, you also end all diseases afflicting the creature.
Cursed Concoctions
Starting at 6th level, when you craft a concoction you can choose to expend a spell slot without choosing a spell, instead crafting a Cursed Concoction. When you create
a Cursed Concoction, choose one effect per level of spell slot expended.
• The creature is poisoned.
• The creature’s movement speeds are halved.
• The creature takes an additional 1d4 necrotic damage
the first time it takes damage each turn.
• The creature takes 1d6 poison damage each time it
takes an action, bonus action, or reaction on a turn.
• The creature takes acid damage equal to the level of
the spell slot expended at the start of each of its turns.
As an action, you can hurl a Cursed Concoction
at a point you can see within 30 feet. Creatures within
10 feet of that point must make a Constitution saving
throw against your wizard spell save DC. On a failure,
the creature suffers all of the chosen effects for the
next minute.
As an action, the affected creature can attempt another Constitution saving throw to end any effects early.
Also at 6th level you can Study potions with spell effects as though they are spell scrolls to add the spell to your spell book.
additionally you can use a potion with a monetary value as a replacement for a spell component of lesser or equivalent monetary value when casting a Wizard spell
Exotic ingredients
at 10th level you can briefly foray into magics outside of the arcane
As Part of your action to Make a concoction you may use a spell available to an ally within 30 feet of you as long as that spell meets the other prerequisites to make that concoction and is of a level that you can cast.
Additionally You can drink a potion or concoction to regain a spell slot in addition to gaining its regular effect . the level of spell slot is either equal to the level of spell slot used to create the concoction or the rarity of the potion according to the following chart.
- common - 1st level
- uncommon - 2nd level
- rare - 3rd level
- very rare - 4th level
- legendary - 5th level
you may use each of these abilities once per long rest.
Way of the Vessel
At 14th level, an order of elixirs Wizard can brew concoctions with other spells. When you successfully cast Counter spell or Dispel magic you can put the spell into a vessel. These are not concoctions as the magics of others are still too volatile to be consumed by others, but you can release the bottled spell as if you had cast it removing it from the vessel. You have a number of vessels equal to your intelligence modifier. When you bottle a new spell while your vessels are all full the oldest vessel releases it energy harmlessly to make room for the new spell.
also Vessels count as potions for the purpose of studying spells to add spells to your spellbook.
