Monk
Base Class: Monk

“The Weave does not seek balance. It seeks domination. It is through dominion that you will know true power.”

Monks who follow the Dark Side of the Weave embrace the hateful and sinister forces of the weave, harnessing its power to dominate and subjugate all who stand in their way. They are not bound by the rigid discipline of the traditional monastic paths, but instead seek to control their surroundings through fear, aggression, and relentless will. Their strikes carry the weight of unyielding hatred, their minds sharpened by the dark currents that swirl beneath the surface of reality.

These warriors do not fight for peace or balance, but to impose their vision of order upon the realms, one crushed enemy at a time. Through their mastery of the weave, they channel the darkest aspects of the realms—anger, fear, and hate—transforming them into raw power. The discipline of the mind, once used for enlightenment, now serves as a means of overwhelming others with sheer will.

Level 3: Dark Side Weave Arts

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, choose two of three spells below. You can cast them as a magic action by spending focus points equal to the spell level. They use your wisdom modifier for your spellcasting and require no material components to cast. You can only use the subclass abilities if you are evil aligned.

As a magic action you can spend 1 Focus Point to cast Witch Bolt.

Apprentice Weave Choke
As a magic action you can spend 2 Focus Points to cast Hold Person.

Weave Shadows

Additionally, you gain the Mage Hand cantrip if you don’t already know it. You can cast it without verbal components and you can make the spectral hand invisible.

At 6th Level, your connection to the dark side of the weave has strengthened with the Weave flowing through you. Some of your Base Monk Abilities have been altered due to this connection.

Your "Flurry of Blows" ability changes and can now be done with a held longsword, shortsword, or any weapon with a kybaria crystal but cannot use unarmed monk die for unarmed attacks when wielding one. Empowered Strikes deal necrotic damage instead of force.

Your "Deflect Attacks" ability now allows you take no damage from magic missile or eldritch blast and automatically reflects all darts or blasts back to the caster, automatically hitting them.

Additionally, you can choose one of two new spells to learn when reaching this level to misuse the weave.

Weave Horror
As a bonus magic action you can spend 3 Focus Points to cast Fear.

Weave Spectre
As a bonus magic action you can spend 3 Focus Points to cast Spirit Shroud.

Level 11: Dark Side Weave Connection

By 11th level, you have learned to call upon the dark side of the weave to aid you as you reflect on your fallen enemies.Your "Unarmored Defense" changes, giving you instead Medium armor proficiency, and letting you add half your wisdom modifier to your AC in armor (rounded down, does not stack with a shield).

Additionally, your weave choke and weave lightning can be more effective if you spend 5 Focus Points on either ability.

Dark Knight Weave Lightning

Dark Knight Weave Bind
As a magic action you can spend 5 Focus Points to cast the spell Hold Monster.

Level 17: Dark Side Weave Master

At 17th Level, your connection to the dark side of the weave is complete, allowing you to unleash your full potential. Your monk abilities are further augmented and some even altered.

When you take the Dodge Action, you can activate your "Deflect Attack" ability as many times as your wisdom modifier until the start of your next turn if you are equipped with a longsword, shortsword, or weapon with a kybaria crystal you are proficient with.

Your "Unarmored Defense" changes, giving you instead Medium and Heavy armor proficiency, and letting you add half your wisdom modifier to your AC in armor (rounded down, does not stack with a shield).

One With The Weave
As a magic action you can spend 5 focus points to cast the spell Telekinesis.

Weave Scream
Your most powerful technique though is the ultimate representation of your conquering nature. You can spend 9 focus points as a magic action to cast the spell Psychic Scream.

Finally, once per round, you restore Focus Points Equal to your Proficiency if you deal a killing blow or assisted in a killing blow to a creature of significant threat (DM's discretion). You can do this as many times as your proficiency modifier per long rest.
