Base Class: Rogue
Assassins sneak in the shadows to strike their targets, often being hired killers or stealthy warriors. Some assassins snipe targets from afar, others sneak up behind enemies to backstab them, and some even concoct deadly poisons to better take down targets. Many methods can be used to kill, but a truly skilled assassin masters all of them.
Features by Level:
- Level 3: Assassinate, Assassin's Specialty
- Level 9: Specialty Benefit
- Level 13: Improved Assassinate
- Level 17: Killer Determination
Level 3: Assassinate
As a bonus action, you can mark a target to assassinate. You have advantage on attack rolls against the target until said target dies, in which case they are no longer marked. The target is unmarked if you mark a new target or dismiss the mark without any action. In addition, you have advantage on Perception or Survival checks made to locate your marked target. You can do this a number of times equal 1 + to your Wisdom modifier, regaining expended uses upon a long rest. Changing your marked target before your currently marked target dies does not expend a use.
Level 3: Assassin’s Specialty
Choose one of the following specialties at 3rd level, gaining its benefits: Backstabber, Poisoner, or Sniper.
- Backstabber: When you get a critical hit against your Assassinate marked target, you triple the damage instead of double the damage. In addition, you get critical hits on a 19 or a 20.
- Poisoner: You gain proficiency in the Poisoner's Kit. When you make a weapon attack that deals Piercing or Slashing damage, you can apply poison to it as part of making the attack, dealing an additional 1d6 Poison damage, provided you own a Poisoner's Kit.
- Sniper: You can make Sneak Attacks using ranged, non-thrown weapons that don't have the Heavy property, and the range of any ranged weapons you wield is doubled.
