Base Class: Pugilist
Pugilists scoff at authority and do what they want, when they want. No pugilists do this better than the Dogfight Enthusiasts, who disrespect gravity on a whim. These fighters have somehow managed to temporarily float in the air as they hound down their enemies with deadly combos before they send their targets crashing to the ground in explosive flourishes..
Z-Axis Combat
Beginning at Level 3 when you choose this subclass, when you make use of your Heavy Hitter feature, you may instead choose to launch the creature up to 5 ft in the air provided the creature is one size larger or smaller than you.
When you launch a creature in this way, you may choose to pursue the creature and leap up to a distance equal to the creature being launched in the air (as a free action, provided you have enough movement) following the creature launched, and continue to make actions as normal. For each attack that lands on the creature while aloft in this way, both you and the target get launched an additional 5 ft. Launches that trigger as a result of landing an unarmed strike in this way does not count against your movement expended this turn.
While aloft in this way, both you and the creature you choose to attack (if the creature is in the air while you attack) temporarily float in the air until the end of your turn, where both you and your target land on the ground. You land harmlessly in this way, taking no fall damage, while your target takes fall damage as normal.
For all features granted by this subclass, if a landing or thrown creature collides with a obstacle or another creature, both creatures must make a Dexterity Saving Throw with a DC equal to 8 + Your Proficiency Bonus + Your Strength Modifier (Minimum of +1)
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, or expend a moxie point (as a free action) to regain one use of this feature. You regain all uses at the end of a short or long rest.
Gravity? I hardly know 'er!
Starting at 3rd level when you choose this subclass, you may leap as a free action, expending the ft. of movement as normal. In addition, your jumping distance is doubled.
You may reduce your falling damage taken by an amount equal to your pugilist level + your constitution modifier (minimum of 1).
Finisher? I love her!
Beginning at 6th Level, at the end of your turn (provided you have launched at least 1 creature) you may expend a moxie point (unless you have used a moxie point to regain use of your Z-Axis Combat feature during this turn) to substitute a final unarmed strike for a aerial finisher. When you do so, choose one of the following options each time you take this action. For all finishers, upon successfully landing a hit, launch you and your target an additional 10 ft. as opposed to 5 ft. per your Z-Axis Combat feature.
Spike. You flail your limbs in a flourish of movement before striking a creature with all of your might. Make a unarmed strike on a creature of your choice within 5 ft. Of you. Upon a hit, the creature takes bludgeoning damage equal to two times your fisticuffs die, and falls prone. If the creature was aloft during this action, this attack has advantage and the target immediately hits the ground, taking extra bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 per 5ft. Fallen.
Crater Strike. You focus your combatants momentum to create a minor explosive crater when they land. Make one unarmed strike against a creature of your choice that is aloft in the air. Upon a hit, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to your fisticuffs die (not including your ability modifier) and falls to an unoccupied space within 10ft. Of you that you can see. Upon landing, each creature you choose within a 5ft. Emanation of the target landing takes bludgeoning damage equal to your proficiency bonus + your strength modifier (minimum of 1).
Fastball Special
Beginning at 11th level, your mastery of aerial movement allows you to send creatures flying without even leaving the ground yourself.
Provided you have moved at least 5ft. this turn without changing direction, When you take the attack action, you may substitute one of your attacks for your Fastball Special feature. Make an unarmed strike against a creature (provided the creature meets the requirements of your Z-Axis Combat feature) within reach or choose a willing creature. Upon a hit, the creature takes damage equal to two rolls of your fisticuffs die (unless the target was a willing creature, in which case they take no damage.) and is violently launched up to a number of feet equal to your movement expended this turn in the same direction you were moving. This movement does not trigger attacks of opportunity for the target launched.
Alternatively, while you and at least one creature you have launched are aloft in the air, you may use your Fastball Special feature and throw the targeted creature to a space you can see within 30 ft. of you. This path goes in a straight diagonal line, upon DM’s discretion, if this path would hit 1 or more creatures that fails their dexterity saving throw against your Z-Axis Combat feature , the creatures are launched along with the thrown creature, landing in the nearest unoccupied space next to the thrown creature at the end of your turn, with all targets landing prone. The maximum amount of bonus targets that can be thrown in addition to the intitial target is equal to your Strength Modifier (Minimum of +1).
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus before you must complete a long rest to regain all uses of this feature.
Size of The Fight in The Dog
Beginning at 17th level, your mastery of aerial combat is no longer hindered by the size of your opponent. For all features granted by this subclass, you may target a creature of any size, ignoring the previous size requirement. However if the creature is Huge or larger, all distance they travel as a result of your features is halved to a minimum of your base range of your features when they were granted (For example, hitting a gargantuan creature with your crater strike to move them to a space within 5 ft. that you can see)
Additionally, you may now initiate your Z-Axis Combat feature without expending a moxie point. You also may use your Finisher? I love her! Feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus before needing to expend a moxie point to gain one use.
As a reaction you may reduce your falling damage to 0.
