Base Class: Fighter

Love is not weakness. To love is to expose the heart to joy, grief, devotion, fury, and loss, and to decide that the vulnerability is worthwhile.

Love Knights are warriors who study emotion with the same discipline that other fighters devote to weapons and tactics. They learn to recognize the passions that govern themselves and others, drawing upon those emotions to sharpen their martial prowess. To a Love Knight, heartbreak is no less a product of love than affection, nor is rage incompatible with devotion. Each is evidence that something matters.

Through rigorous martial and emotional discipline, Love Knights learn not to suppress these passions, but to understand and master them.

Level 3: Passionate Strikes

You have learned to channel powerful emotions through your attacks. This passion is represented by Passion Dice, which are d10s.

You have four Passion Dice. When you hit a creature with an attack roll using a weapon, you can expend one Passion Die to deal additional Psychic damage equal to the number rolled and apply one Passionate Strike effect you know. You can't expend more than one Passion Die per attack.

If a Passionate Strike requires a saving throw, the save DC equals 8 + your Wisdom modifier + your Proficiency Bonus.

You regain all expended Passion Dice when you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Level 3: Open Heart

Your study of emotion has sharpened your ability to perceive what others conceal.

You gain Darkvision with a range of 60 feet. If you already have Darkvision, its range increases by 60 feet.

In addition, you gain Read the Heart.

As a Magic action, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your Passionate Strike save DC or you learn one emotion that looms particularly large in its mind, such as a love, fear, worry, hatred, or longing.

If the creature can see you, it knows that you have perceived its emotions.

You can use Read the Heart twice, regaining all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 7: Aspect of the Heart

Your mastery of emotion allows you to briefly manifest the deepest contents of another creature's heart.

When you use Tactical Shift, you can teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 30 feet instead of moving normally.

Additionally, immediately after you teleport in this way, you can manifest either the Love Aspect or War Aspect in a 10-foot emanation originating from yourself.

Once you manifest an Aspect, you can't do so again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Love Aspect
Each creature of your choice within the emanation briefly perceives a person, memory, or image associated with something it deeply loves.

Each chosen creature gains Temporary Hit Points equal to one roll of your Passion Die and has Advantage on the next saving throw it makes against the Charmed or Frightened condition before the end of your next turn.

War Aspect
Each creature of your choice within the emanation briefly perceives you as something it profoundly fears.

Each target must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Passionate Strike save DC.

On a failed save, a target takes Psychic damage equal to one roll of your Passion Die and has the Frightened condition until the end of your next turn.

On a successful save, it takes half as much damage only.

Level 10: Passion Unbound

Your understanding of emotion has deepened, allowing you to draw upon passions that are more consuming, volatile, and difficult to control.

You learn the following additional Passionate Strike options: Obsession, Jealousy, Vengeance, Longing, and Ecstasy.

Level 15: Steadfast Heart

Your mastery of your own emotions makes your heart difficult to bend against your will.

You have Resistance to Psychic damage.

You have Advantage on saving throws you make to avoid or end the Charmed or Frightened condition.

Additionally, if you begin your turn Charmed or Frightened, you can immediately end one of those conditions on yourself.

Once you end a condition in this way, you can't do so again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Level 18: Mantle of Passion

As a Bonus Action, you can manifest the full force of your heart for 1 minute. While this mantle is active, your emotions become physically perceptible: rose petals drift through the air, phantom blades or chains flicker around you, your eyes burn with radiant color, or another manifestation appropriate to your passions appears.

Unconquerable Heart. You are immune to the Charmed and Frightened conditions.

Passion Incarnate. When an attack roll would hit you, you can use your Reaction to cause the attack to miss instead. Once you cause an attack to miss in this way, you can't do so again until the start of your next turn.

Once you use Mantle of Passion, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
