Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Arcane Conduit represents a breakthrough in monastic philosophy discovered by accident in the monasteries of Quorathal. Certain monks found that through years of disciplined meditation and martial practice, they could develop an extraordinary ability: the capacity to absorb and redirect magical energy itself.

These monks treat their own bodies as living conduits for arcane force. Rather than casting spells or wielding magic as external tools, they have learned to channel raw magical energy through themselves — capturing enemy spells mid-cast, converting them into pure force, and redirecting that power outward. They become living batteries for arcane energy, storing it internally and releasing it with devastating precision.

A monk of this path does not reject magic as some traditions do. Instead, they master it through absorption and control. They wade into battle against spellcasters not with fear but with understanding — knowing that every spell cast at them becomes fuel for their own power. In a world where magic flows through all things, the ability to siphon and redirect that energy is both a martial technique and a profound spiritual discipline.

Level 3: Arcane Absorption

When you are targeted by a spell that targets only you and you can see the caster, you can take a Reaction to try to absorb the spell's energy. You take this Reaction as the spell is cast, before any attack roll or saving throw it calls for. Make a Constitution saving throw against a DC equal to 10 + the spell's level; cantrips count as level 0. On a success, the spell is negated and has no effect on you. On a failure, the spell affects you normally. Either way, the use is expended.

When you successfully absorb a spell, you immediately release stored energy in a 10-foot radius around you. Each creature of your choice that you can see within that radius must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Monk save DC (8 + your Wisdom modifier + your Proficiency Bonus), taking Force damage equal to your Martial Arts die + your Wisdom modifier on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

Limitation: You cannot use this feature to absorb spells of a level higher than half your Monk level rounded down. At 3rd level you can absorb level 1 spells. At 6th level you can absorb up to level 3 spells. At 11th level you can absorb up to level 5 spells. At 17th level you can absorb up to level 8 spells.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 6: Essence Drain

As a Bonus Action, you can touch a creature and attempt to siphon the magical essence from its body. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw against your Monk save DC. On a failed save, the creature takes Force damage equal to 3d6 + your Wisdom modifier, and the target has Disadvantage on the next spell attack roll it makes before the end of your next turn. You gain Temporary Hit Points equal to the damage dealt. On a successful save, nothing happens.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). You regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Level 11: Arcane Reservoir

Your body has become an efficient battery for magical essence. Once per Long Rest, when you roll Initiative, you regain Focus Points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of one).

Note: This feature reflects your innate ability to draw on the ambient magic of the world around you — the residual energy of magical lanterns, enchanted environments, ley lines, and the natural magical currents that flow through all things. You do not cast spells with this energy. You store it and release it as pure force through your other features.

Level 11: Siphon Rewards

When you successfully absorb a spell using your Arcane Absorption feature, you gain one of the following rewards of your choice:

Restored Channeling. You or an ally you can see within 30 feet of you regains one expended spell slot. The slot must be of a level equal to or lower than half the level of the spell you just absorbed (rounded up, minimum level 1).

Silencing Drain. The creature whose spell you absorbed has Disadvantage on the next spell attack roll it makes before the end of your next turn. Additionally, if the creature tries to cast a spell that requires a saving throw before the end of your next turn, each target of that spell has Advantage on its saving throw against it.

Empowered Reservoir. You gain Focus Points equal to half the level of the spell you absorbed (rounded up, minimum 1). These Focus Points are added to your current Focus Points, but they can't take you above your Focus Point maximum.

Level 17: Arcane Mastery

Your mastery over siphoned arcane energy reaches its zenith. You gain the following features:

Arcane Feedback. The burst damage from your Arcane Absorption now deals additional Force damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus. This bonus is added automatically whenever you successfully absorb a spell and release your burst of force energy.

Arcane Tempest. Once per Long Rest, as a Magic action, you can unleash the raw energy stored within your soul in a devastating explosion. All creatures of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Monk save DC. On a failed save, a creature takes 10d6 Force damage, is knocked Prone, and has Disadvantage on all spell attack rolls and saving throws it makes until the end of your next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and suffers none of the other effects.
