Base Class: Wizard
Wizards who follow the Overlord of Death pursue the ultimate mastery of necromancy, forbidden magic and the manipulation of life and death. Through years of arcane study, they become terrifying rulers capable of commanding undead legions, resisting hostile magic and unleashing devastating spells upon their enemies.
Those who reach the highest levels of this tradition become living embodiments of magical supremacy, feared by kingdoms and worshipped by their followers.
Sovereign Of Death
Your transformation into an undead sovereign grants you the following benefits.
Undying Vessel. You no longer need to eat, drink or breathe. You have resistance to necrotic damage and advantage on saving throws against disease.
Aura of Dread. As a bonus action, you manifest a terrifying aura for 1 minute. Once per long rest, each creature of your choice within 10 feet that can see you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Wizard spell save DC. On a failure, the creature is frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
Command Undead. You can communicate telepathically with undead you summon within 60 feet. You can issue simple commands to them without speaking, subject to the limitations of the spells that created them.
Master of the Undead
Your control over death deepens.
Gravebound Servants. When you cast Animate Dead, you can affect one additional undead creature with the spell, provided the spell's normal requirements are met.
Death's Resistance. You gain resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws against the poisoned condition.
Undead Retinue. As a bonus action, you can issue commands to your undead servants. They follow your instructions within the limits of their summoning spells.
The Magic Caster
Your arcane mastery allows you to bend magic to your will.
Arcane Dominance. Once per long rest, you can cast a Wizard spell of 5th level or lower without expending a spell slot.
Negate Magic. When you fail a saving throw against a spell, you can use your reaction to add your Intelligence modifier to the roll, potentially turning failure into success. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Forbidden Knowledge. You gain proficiency in Religion. If you already have proficiency, your Dungeon Master may allow you to gain expertise instead.
Avatar of Ainz
You assume your ultimate form as the Supreme Overlord of Death.
Avatar of Ainz. As a bonus action, you transform for 1 minute. Once per long rest, you gain these benefits while transformed:
-
Gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Wizard level.
-
Gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from nonmagical attacks.
-
Your spell save DC increases by 2.
-
Once on each of your turns, when you deal necrotic damage with a Wizard spell, you deal additional necrotic damage equal to your Intelligence modifier.
-
When a hostile creature within 30 feet is reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus.
Any temporary hit points remaining from this feature disappear when the transformation ends.
