Base Class: Ranger
Some bonds are too strong to be severed by death.
A Soulbound Ranger carries the spirit of a fallen companion beyond the boundaries of life and death. Through an extraordinary spiritual connection, the ranger grants that spirit a physical form shaped by their own nature, memories, and instincts.
The companion is more than a summoned creature. It is a trusted friend returned to the world, its presence a living testament to a bond that death could not destroy. As the ranger grows stronger, their connection deepens, allowing the companion to manifest more of its true power.
Together, they fight as two bodies guided by one unbreakable bond.
Level 3: Companion of the Soul
At 3rd level, you form a magical bond with your soul companion. This companion is a trusted ally that accompanies you on your journeys and fights beside you in battle. Its appearance reflects the nature of the bond you share, shaped by instinct, loyalty, and the wild.
Your companion acts on your turn. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but it requires your direction in battle and follows your commands to the best of its ability.
Choose the Soul’s essence when you gain this feature.
If the companion dies, the bond is not broken. You can restore your companion to life by spending 8 hours tending to it or reforming the bond during a long rest.
Your companion is friendly to you and your companions, and its bond with you deepens as you gain levels in this class.

Soul Essence
When you form your bond, choose acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. This choice determines the damage type of your companion's Essence-infused abilities.
Actions
Bite. Melee Attack Roll: Your Proficiency Bonus + your companion's Strength modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d6 + your companion's Strength modifier piercing damage.
Claw. Melee Attack Roll: Your Proficiency Bonus + your companion's Strength modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d6 + your companion's Strength modifier slashing damage.
Tail. Melee Attack Roll: Your Proficiency Bonus + your companion's Strength modifier to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d6 + your companion's Strength modifier bludgeoning damage
If your companion moves at least 20 feet straight toward the target immediately before hitting it with this attack, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the type chosen for your Soul Essence. The target must also succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your Strength modifier + your Proficiency Bonus) or have the Prone condition.
Reactions
Infused Strikes. When another creature your companion can see within 30 feet of it hits a target with a weapon attack, your companion can infuse the strike with its essence. The target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the type chosen for your Soul Essence.
Level 7: Soul Training
At 7th level, your companion's spirit grows more attuned to your instincts. Its movements become sharper, its attacks more potent, and its essence begins to protect you in return.
While your Soul Companion is present, it gains the following benefits:
Spirit-Forged Attacks. Your companion's attacks count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
Empowered Bite. Your companion's Bite deals an extra 1d6 damage of the type chosen for your Soul Essence.
Shared Resistance. You gain resistance to the damage type chosen for your Soul Essence.
Coordinated Training. When you use a Bonus Action to command your Soul Companion to take an action, you can also command it to take the Dash, Disengage, Dodge, or Help action as a Bonus Action.
Level 11: Soul's Fury
At 11th level, your bond becomes instinctive. You and your companion no longer need to anticipate one another's movements; each reacts as naturally as if sharing a single mind.
Seamless Pursuit. Once on each of your turns, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, your Soul Companion can move up to half its Speed without provoking Opportunity Attacks from that creature.
Spirit's Grasp. The first time on each turn that your Soul Companion hits a creature with its Bite, the target's Speed is reduced by 10 feet until the start of its next turn. The spiritual force of your bond clings to the target, hindering its movements.
Level 15: Soul Companion Enhancement
At 15th level, your connection transcends its original limits. Your companion is no longer merely a spirit given physical form; it becomes a true extension of your will, capable of enduring greater punishment and unleashing its power with unprecedented force.
Your Soul Companion gains the following benefits while it is manifested:
Greater Presence. Your companion's size increases by one category, from Medium to Large, and its reach with melee attacks increases by 5 feet.
Shared Endurance. When your Soul Companion takes damage while within 30 feet of you, you can use your Reaction to reduce that damage by an amount equal to your Ranger level.
Tactical Bond. As a Bonus Action, you can command your Soul Companion to move up to its Speed and make one attack, or to take the Dodge, Help, or Ready action. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Your companion retains all the benefits it gained from this subclass, and its physical form reflects the strength of the bond you have cultivated together.
Death took your companion once. It will not take it from your side again.
