Base Class: Warlock
Spin Small Magics into a Killing Web
Once she was Araushnee, consort of Corellon Larethian and weaver of elven destiny. His mercy made her a demon and cast her into the Abyss, where she spun a throne of webs and stolen souls in the Demonweb Pits and waited for the children of the Seldarine to come crawling. Now the Elf-father is dead, the stars of Arvandor have gone dark, and the orphans are crawling.
Lolth does not hand her chosen great spells. She gives them threads: a thousand small cruelties, each meaningless alone and lethal together. Warlocks of the Demonweb turn the humblest cantrip, Eldritch Blast above all, into a strand of her web. Each crackle of eldritch power carries her venom into the flesh, her whispers into the mind, or her hunger into the bone, and every strand pulls tighter.
Her favor is fickle. She loves ambition more than loyalty and treachery more than prayer, and she rewards her chosen only while they keep feeding her web.
Venom, Whisper, or Ichor. Lolth wears three faces. Poison is the Spider Queen's: her toxic webs, the venom of her spiders, and the poisoned daggers of drow ascension. Psychic is the Weaver's and the Lady of Chaos's: the goddess of destiny who knots fates, and the Mistress of Lies whose will frays minds. Acid is the Demonweb's own: the patient hunger of a spider that dissolves what it has caught and drinks it at leisure. Whenever this subclass deals extra damage, you choose Poison, Psychic, or Acid.
Mother's Teachings
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready. When you reach a Warlock level specified in the Mother's Teachings table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Dissonant Whispers, Poison Spray, Ray of Sickness, Spider Climb, Vicious Mockery, Web |
| 5 | Bestow Curse, Stinking Cloud |
| 7 | Giant Insect, Phantasmal Killer |
| 9 | Dominate Person, Insect Plague |
Mother's Kiss
Every cantrip you cast carries a drop of the Spider Queen's venom, a whisper of her madness, or a bead of her devouring ichor. When a creature takes damage from a Warlock cantrip you cast, it takes an extra 1d4 Poison, Psychic, or Acid damage (your choice). If a cantrip deals damage through multiple attacks or rays, such as each beam of Eldritch Blast, each one that hits applies this extra damage separately, and you choose the damage type for each one.
Lingering Grudge. If a Warlock cantrip damages a creature with only a single attack roll or saving throw, such as Poison Spray or Vicious Mockery, the Mother's Kiss damage it deals to that creature is instead rolled once for each beam your Eldritch Blast would create at your level: one roll at levels 1–4, two at levels 5–10, three at levels 11–16, and four at level 17 and higher.
Shared Bitterness. If a Warlock cantrip deals damage to more than one creature at once without making a separate attack roll against each, such as Sword Burst or Thunderclap, choose a number of those creatures up to the number of beams your Eldritch Blast would create at your level. Each chosen creature takes the Mother's Kiss damage once, and you choose the damage type for each creature separately. Each creature that takes this damage is affected as though it had been struck by a single beam, including for any effect triggered by Mother's Kiss damage.
Old Wounds Deepen. The Mother's Kiss die increases when you reach certain Warlock levels: 1d6 at level 6, 1d8 at level 10, and 1d10 at level 14.
Mother's Favor
The Spider Queen's regard is a thread, and she can cut it whenever she likes. You have a number of Favor points equal to your Proficiency Bonus plus your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). You regain all expended Favor when you finish a Long Rest, and you regain 1 expended Favor when you use your Magical Cunning feature. Favor fuels Kept Close below and Turned Against Him (level 10). If you have no Favor left, you can't use an option that costs it.
Kept Close. When a Warlock cantrip you cast hits a creature with an attack roll, or deals damage to a creature that failed its saving throw against it, you can spend 1 Favor (no action required) to bind that creature in Abyssal silk. The target makes a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. Huge or larger creatures have Advantage on this save. On a failed save, the target has the Restrained condition until the end of your next turn. The target or a creature within reach of it can take an action to make a Strength (Athletics) check against your spell save DC, freeing the target on a success.
There is no limit to how many times you can use Kept Close on a turn, provided you have the Favor to spend. You can use it once for each creature hit by a Warlock cantrip's attack, and once for each creature damaged after failing a Warlock cantrip's saving throw. For example, if three beams of Eldritch Blast strike three different creatures, you can spend 3 Favor to force all three to make the saving throw. If an area cantrip such as Thunderclap damages five creatures that failed their saves, you can spend up to 5 Favor to hold them all close.
Tribute to Mother. Once per turn, when a creature that is Restrained by your Kept Close, or carries your Heartstrings, is reduced to 0 Hit Points, you regain 1 expended Favor.
Raised in Her House. You gain Darkvision out to 60 feet, or your existing Darkvision increases by 30 feet. You gain a Climb Speed equal to your Speed. Webs aren't Difficult Terrain for you and can't Restrain you unless you allow it, and you can communicate simple ideas with Spiders.
Bitter Inheritance
Your patron's three faces sharpen your small magics. You gain the following benefits:
No Mercy Given. The Poison, Psychic, and Acid damage from your Mother's Kiss ignores Resistance.
Mother's Venom. Once per turn, when you deal Poison damage with Mother's Kiss, you can force the target to make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, it has the Poisoned condition until the end of your next turn.
Her Side of the Story. Once per turn, when you deal Psychic damage with Mother's Kiss, the target can't take Reactions until the start of your next turn.
Bitter Settlement. Once per turn, when you deal Acid damage with Mother's Kiss, the ichor eats into the target's armor, shell, or hide. The target takes a −2 penalty to its Armor Class until the start of your next turn. A creature can be affected by only one Bitter Settlement at a time.
Disowned by the Light. Your patron's venom, madness, and hunger have seeped into you. You have Resistance to Poison, Psychic, and Acid damage. The Demonweb's blessing comes at a price: the light of the gods you betrayed burns you, and you have Vulnerability to Radiant damage.
Ties That Bind
Before she was the Spider Queen, Lolth was Araushnee, goddess of destiny, who wove the fates of the elves on her loom. She now shows you the threads, and how to twist them. You gain the following benefits:
Heartstrings. Whenever a creature takes Mother's Kiss damage from you, you tie one strand of its destiny into the Weaver's web. That creature gains one Heartstring per beam or roll, to a maximum of 8. A creature's Heartstrings vanish if it goes until the end of your next turn without gaining a new one. You can see any creature's Heartstrings as faint crimson strands, and you have Advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks against a creature carrying them.
Turned Against Him. Araushnee once cursed Corellon's scabbard so that his own daughter's arrows flew into his heart. When a creature carrying your Heartstrings makes an attack roll against you, you can take a Reaction and spend 1 Favor to twist its fate: the attack instead targets another creature of your choice within 5 feet of you or of the attacker (not the attacker itself), using the same roll against that creature's AC. If the attack misses its new target, it misses entirely.
Mother's Blood. You have Immunity to Poison damage and the Poisoned condition.
Yor'thae, Favorite Child
Lolth has called mortals to become her Yor'thae before, her Chosen, a vessel for her voice and will, so that the Weaver of Destiny could step back into the world and pull its threads with mortal hands. Now she calls you. Corellon Larethian is dead, and a child of the Seldarine has crawled to her web. As a Bonus Action, you can open yourself to her for 1 minute. Eight crimson eyes kindle in a ring above your head, like the eight red stars of the Demonweb Pits. The effect ends early if you have the Incapacitated condition or you dismiss it (no action required). While it lasts, you gain the following benefits:
Mother's Embrace. When you invoke this feature, you gain Temporary Hit Points equal to your Warlock level plus your Charisma modifier, and you have Immunity to the Charmed and Frightened conditions.
Spoiled Rotten. Each time you deal Mother's Kiss damage, roll two Mother's Kiss dice instead of one. You can give the two dice different damage types, and each type can trigger its own benefit from your Bitter Inheritance feature.
Nothing Held Back. The Mother's Venom, Her Side of the Story, and Bitter Settlement benefits are no longer limited to once per turn. Instead, each one can affect a given creature only once per turn, so a single Eldritch Blast can poison, silence, or corrode every creature it hits.
Guilt Trip. Once on each turn, when a creature you can see carrying at least 2 of your Heartstrings makes an attack roll or a saving throw, you can remove 2 of its Heartstrings (no action required), roll 1d10, and subtract the number rolled from its d20 roll. You can do this after seeing the roll but before any of its effects occur.
Inheritance. When a creature carrying your Heartstrings is reduced to 0 Hit Points, you can move all of its Heartstrings to another creature you can see within 30 feet of it, to a maximum of 8.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest unless you expend a Pact Magic spell slot (no action required) to restore your use of it.
