Base Class: Monster Hunter
Members of the Sanguine Hunting Guild understand how to manipulate that which flows directly through the veins of most living creatures. By harnessing the blood of themselves and their foes, they are able to achieve unparalleled feats of violence on the battlefield.
Level 3: Grimoire of Blood
Your experience as a Monster Hunter transforms your Grimoire, and you learn how to write in it using your own blood. You add the Humanoid creature type to your Monster Grimoire.
Level 3: Crimson Rush
You learn how to use drawn blood as a weapon. You gain an enhancement to your Studied Response feature: you can choose to activate it after a creature you can see within 60 feet hits you or another creature with a Melee or Ranged attack, rather than before the attack roll.
If you have more than 0 Hit Points when this occurs, you can choose to teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the attacking creature before making your attack roll. Your attack roll is made with Advantage, and on a hit, you deal extra damage equal to 10% of your maximum Hit Points. This extra damage is of the same type as your weapon or Unarmed Strike.
Both of these benefits are shared with your ally via your Slayer's Aid feature.
Level 7: Preparation Vials
Your skill as a Monster Hunter grows. When you finish a long rest, you can prepare a number of special potion vials equal to your Proficiency Bonus. These vials can be given to other creatures and maintain their magic for 8 hours. A creature can use a Bonus Action to drink a vial, gaining Temporary Hit Points equal to your Intelligence modifier multiplied by your Proficiency Bonus. Additionally, the creature has Advantage on the next weapon attack it makes before the end of its turn.
Level 10: Mantle of Blood
- Once per turn, when a hostile creature damages you, you gain 1 Blood Stack.
- Once per turn, when you damage a creature with a Melee weapon attack, you gain 1 Blood Stack.
- When you drink one of your Preparation Vials, you gain 1 Blood Stack.
Your Blood Stacks last for 1 minute or until you roll Initiative. Once per turn, when you make a Melee weapon attack, you can choose to deal extra damage equal to 5% of your maximum Hit Points per Blood Stack you have (before making the attack roll). This extra damage is of the same type as your weapon. If you hit a creature with an attack that does not deal this extra damage, this ability is refreshed.
Level 15: Sanguine Smite
Your manipulation of blood grows to greater heights. When you hit a hostile creature with a weapon or Unarmed Strike and you have Advantage on the attack roll, you can choose to expend 3 Blood Stacks to perform a Sanguine Smite, allowing you to deal extra damage equal to 50% of your maximum Hit Points. This extra damage is of the same type as your weapon or Unarmed Strike.
You can use this feature once per long rest, unless you expend Hit Points equal to your Monster Hunter level to regain your use of it (no action required).
Level 18: Crimson Avatar
You attain supreme mastery over the blood around you. As a Bonus Action, you can expend 10 Blood Stacks to enter a state of enhanced blood manipulation, where you force blood to fly around you and aid you in combat. While in this state, you gain the following benefits:
Flight. You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
Enhanced Reflexes. You gain an additional reaction on your turn, which can only be used to activate Crimson Rush.
Improved Smite. The extra damage dealt by your Sanguine Smite now equals your maximum Hit Points.
Grim Resurgence. Mantle of Blood can be triggered twice per turn, instead of once, to gain Blood Stacks from both being damaged and dealing damage.
Crimson Flurry. If you have at least 5 Blood stacks and you take the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to make 2 weapon attacks.
This state lasts for 1 round. At the start of your next turn, you can spend 2 Blood Stacks to extend it for another round, up to a minute. Once you enter this state, you cannot do so again until you finish a Long Rest.
