Base Class: Monk
Ki practitioners are capable of many miracles. These Ki practitioners have strengthened their Ki up through meditiation and their control of Ki. Monks who chose the path of the Katana-Ki Bond, meditate with there Katana for a short rest to allow there Ki to flow through and permanently bond to the user. When the Katana is bonded to the user they can now perform feats that seem impossible to extend there reach and more.
Ki bond
At 3rd level, you learn a ritual that creates a magical bond between yourself and one weapon. It has to be a weapon that is one-handed or versatile. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. The weapon must be within your reach throughout the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the weapon and forge the bond.
Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you can’t be disarmed of that weapon unless you are incapacitated. If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon that weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.
- Katana (Long Sword - Expertise) becomes a monk weapon once it is bonded
- Dart (Dart - Expertise) becomes a monk weapon
- Katana Ki users may use their Dexterity modifier instead of their Strength modifier on attack rolls with their Bonded Weapon. Their Bonded Weapon is consider to have the finesse property as well.
Katana Ki Slash Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your enemy’s ki when you harness your own. Whenever you hit a creature with one of the attacks granted by your Flurry of Slashes, you can impose one of the following effects on that target:
It must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.
If it fails, you can push it up to 15 feet away from you.
It can’t take reactions until the end of your next turn.
Quickdraw
The following conditions must be met to use this Ki art.
- The creature must be attacking with a melee weapon
- The user must be within attacking range of the creature
- The katana must be sheathed
If the users attack hits the creature, its attack is interrupted. This expends 2 Ki points.
Moonlight Slash
Beginning at level 6, your work with your Ki and Katana have finally paid off as you learn a way to cut moonlight itself, on any attack made with a sword you deal an additional +3 damage, if you score a critical on your roll you may slice off a limb of the dms choice from the enemy. Costs 3 Ki Points.
Torando Strike
The user swings their weapon around in a circle, spinning their body adding to the strike's force. The user must be using their bonded weapon. All creatures within the bonded weapon's range are affected. Skill expends 3 ki points. Damage is (bonded weapon's damage)+1d4. At 10th level this bonus becomes +1d6. At 18th level this bonus becomes +1d8.
Flash Step
Starting at 6th level, you have enhanced your speed to the point that physical obstacles no longer hinder your speed. Difficult terrain no longer costs you extra movement. In addition, when you take the dash action, you gain the following benefits:
- Opportunity attacks you provoke while moving are rolled with disadvantage
- You can move through the space of Medium or smaller creature while moving. When you do so, that creature is knocked prone.
Costs 2 Ki points.
Perfect Ki Slash
At 17th level you can use an action and align your mind, body, ki and blade to initiate the Perfect Cut. You spend 5 ki points and slice the enemy with such speed that it takes a moment for the damage to register. On their turn they will make a Con save, if they fail, they take 10d10 slashing damage, if they succeed, they take half as much. This damage is triggered prematurely if you or anyone else hits them with an attack before their turn.
The damage from this attack will also bypass any immunities, resistances or damage nullifying/reducing reactions the creature, or any equipment the creature is wearing, has.
